I acknowledge theyre a fashion brand but I have trouble justifying spending 300+ on any watch. Best ive ever gotten is a Citizen. But still, I like bargain hunting and a good looking $50 Nixon seems like a good deal

I am a watch collector who has probably spent more on watches than just about anyone else on this board. That being said I wouldn't wear one, but you should always wear what you like. If you like the look of them go for it.

I mean if you think the watch looks cool and its a good price then go for it. Some of the Nixon watches do look cool.

My issue is that Nixon watches use pretty cheap materials and basic quartz movements (what makes the watch tick). In this case you are paying mostly for the design and the brand name, and when you watch inevitably breaks, its going to go in the trash rather than being fixed by a horologist.

What I look for in a watch is quality of materials, a well-made mechanical movement, and a brand with good prestige & history. Contrary to popular belief you do not need to spend hundreds or thousands to get a quality timepiece.

But really, if you like the Nixon Id get it, I would just have a hard time spending 500 on a quartz watch that has the same guts as a $10 timex weekender or something

i don't really like mechanicals, they're old technology and quartz's are much more accurate and reliable but it just so happens that almost all the very expensive watches with big names are automatics etc. go figure.
