I'm guessing they rushed this out. I'm pretty sure the console version is also why it's a mess. It was originally meant to be PC only, and then a console release later.

Honestly I'm more worried about the fact that this game focuses on "realism"
Ultimately I enjoy rpgs that allow me to make a character that starts out weak and becomes super strong in the end. I can deal with a few janky mechanics as long as there's a robust quicksave system to help mitigate the damage, but when you have a game this ambitious (read: buggy) coupled with a limited save system, it's not a good recipe.
