Current Events > I'm not very tech savvy, my Lenovo ideapad is running super slow. Help please!

So my computer is a cheap one but I don't do much on it other than surf the web and watch Netflix/Hulu. But now my computer won't load Hulu half the time and when it does it buffers quite frequently. Is there anything I can do to my computer to clean it up and make it run quicker? I'm fine if I have to delete everything and completely reboot the whole computer I'm just not sure what I'm doing.

Disable both Chromiums, Intel security assistant, iTunes, Lenovo Utility, McAfee (in fact let's uninstall that in a minute), and both Microsoft One Drive and Microsoft Windows Mal...

Then press the winkey/click the start button and type in "uninstall a program" and there should be only one thing to select, then you should get to control panel where you can uninstall mcafee.
Read carefully when uninstalling it since it might give you the option to not uninstall since it's mcafee.

Then restart pc

and in the same task manager ctrl + shift + esc, click on processes and then post a screenshot of that. Just the apps and background processes you can ignore the window processes

Okay, bytefence is bad. It's a genuine anti virus program but it's pretty annoying

Do the search for uninstalling a program and uninstall that and also take a screenshot showing al lthe programs listed. We'll see if anything else can be gone that would slow your system down

Ok, I know how to get to the control panel. Thats about it haha. Ill screenshot when bytefence is done uninstalling, bytefence had a shit load of files lol

I just wanted to make sure that your computer was running better.

We'll get an antivirus now, though technically Windows 10 (which you're on) does have one built in, it's called Windows Defender.

But I would recommend Malwarebytes in addition.

It's a very straightforward install.
You can use that to scan your computer once a week - you don't need the paid version.
Other than that, I'd advise getting yourself an ablocker addon for chrome:

Ok Im getting malware bytes now, god damn chromium just wont go away! Every time I restart my computer it shows back up lol

So long as it's not starting up then it should be okay.
There are specific ways to remove it but unfortunately I'm too tired to keep going.

With ublock origin when you install it, look to the upper right in Chrome, click the red shield (sometimes it's grey), and click options, them uncheck "Show the number of blocked requests on the icon" and click 3rd-party filters, I would advise checking all the ublock filters except the experimental one, and then all ads, privacy and malware domain ones.

You might from time to time get a page that says it's blocked because of a certain filter, you can click the option to disable strict blocking for that page.

Other than that, ublock stays out of the way and tends to disable things that hog resources, as ads can often take up a lot of resources.
Two more things, you can disable ublock origin completely for the site by clicking the icon again and clicking the large blue open cirlce so it's greyed out. Click it again to enable it.

Also from time to time, say every hour or two, just close your browser and reopen it again to help clear some ram, that might or might not help, sometimes it does but it's something to try.

So you got malwarebytes and ublock origin installed.

Do a full computer scan with Malware bytes and let me know what pops up afterwards

I ran malware last night and there were over 200 threats detected/quarantined. I just ran it again and there was nothing.

Well, ideally your PC should be fine - I'd advise scanning it with malwarebytes every week

Ok I'll try and remember to do it once a week. It is running quite a bit better and it starts up faster now that I got rid of all that shit. Thanks for the help.
