The story is plenty egregious enough w/o sensationalizing it by falsely describing the victim as a harmless child. Fail, TC.

In September 2016, Weirton City Manager Travis Blosser told CNN that Mader was fired not just for the Williams shooting but for "a totality of circumstances," which included a March 2016 incident where Mader allegedly entered a man's vehicle without a warrant to put a ticket on the dashboard and an April 2016 incident where Mader and other officers failed to report an elderly woman's death as suspicious. The woman's death was later ruled a homicide.

The guy has no business being a cop. His decision to not fire at an armed, aggravated suspect could have wound up in somebody being killed -- including the cop or his partner -- and his other conduct was problematic.

As for the mishandled reporting of a crime...he would've been a rookie cop back then and as you noted, there were other cops who screwed that up, too. Singling only him out for that is beyond ridiculous.

The victim seemed to have issues and was attempting "suicide by cop." The cops arriving could've just stayed back and let him continue trying to deescalate the situation...but....nah....easier to just shoot the guy.
