I honestly dont see this going well 1. What happens if someone steals your package? You SOL until the next delivery? 2. Is the government going to make these meal kits ourselves or go to the private sector 3. Whats the nutrition guidelines. 4. Will there be diversity in the type of meals provided 5. What about allergies/religious 6. Will this save money or cost the government more money? 7. Will they be tracking the nutrition of these receivers to see if it helped or hurt them? ... I'm guessing that food stamp recipients buy canned food and other great value deals at Walmart to maximize the amount of food that can be purchased with 90$ or so in food stamps a month. This looks like it would severely restrict people from "cheaping out" to provide enough food to feed the whole family (not just essentials, but deserts like ice cream and what not). edit -- ok, some of it will be canned, but will it be the cheaper Walmart brands or the more expensive campbells and such? i mean all they really have to do is make sure they are providing ample amounts of food per the cost and making sure they aren't sending anything with allergens to the wrong people
