You take her hand as she helps you up.

She looks at you again, still blank with her expression with not even the slightest smile. I was...told to help you, she says meekly. She then looks behind you.

You turn back to see Isabella crawling out of the vents

She runs up to you, a little exhausted. Hey! Glad I passed by when I did!

The little girl walks back to the side of Isabella and hands her tech gun back to her.

Isabella accepts it and pats her on the head. I made a grave error in my judgment, she says as her face gets more somber. This girl didnt fully resist the brainwashing; her memories and her personality have become clouded.

The girl simply blinks with indifference at her words.

Isabella looks at you with a serious expression. It might be better for us to stick together after all. We are fast approaching the exit anyway.

A thought just ran through your mind. You take out [ Thorns Vault ] from your inventory and present it to Isabella.

She looks at it with surprise. Oh...this is the vault of one of the subjects. Unfortunately, I am not assigned to him, so I have no knowledge on his data, but I can open this up for you she says as she takes out a keycard from her lab coat and swipes it through the vaults lock.

White smoke fumes out of the vault. As it clears out, you can see [ Thorns Katanas ] as well as a peculiar stuffed lion. On it is a tag that reads Happy Birthday, Rosie.

The little girl is fixated on the lion. She takes it in one hand, then takes a katana in another hand as she carefully and quietly inspects it.

You figure youll let her take whats inside and motion to both of them that youre going on ahead.

Isabella nods in acknowledgement, then turns to the girl with a smile. Rose, you can take those with you. We should get going, she says as she pats the girls shoulder and walks to follow behind you.

Rose blankly nods at her and also follows along after grabbing the swords and the lion.

As the three of you walk through the corridors leading to the containment area, you see dead soldiers everywhere lining the place with blood. It looks like it happened not too long ago either.

Isabella looks around with discomfort. I deal with blood on a regular basis, but this is just--

Rose tugs her sleeve. Is it bad that these people are dead?

Isabella keeps walking without looking at her. Its not bad. Its not good, either. Its simply part of their job.

You keep walking; your footsteps being the only sound audible to accompany this grim sight.

Eventually, you reach a part of the corridor with a bunch of metallic doors. Looks like this is the containment area. You see one of the doors busted down; the sign next to it reads Subject 087: Th with the rest of the text being scratched up and muddled with blood. You can also read ..ubj..ct 088 faintly among the rest of the text.

A) Go in the room and investigate
B) Keep going on ahead

A) Investigate

The three of you enter the room. It looks somewhat similar to the room you were held in just a few moments ago.

Isabella quickly runs up to a peculiar dead body lying in the corner. Its a scientist just like she is, though theyre not as alive as she is. Rest in pieces asshole. The chief always did prefer your shoddy work over mine, she says as she starts looting the body.

[ Tier 5 Keycard get! ]
[ Tech Pistol get! ]

You take a better look at the room overall. The tables that the subjects were strapped on are intact, but bloodied. In fact, the only thing out-of-place in this room is blood splattered and trailing towards the dead scientist.

Rose seems indifferent to all of this.

You motion to them that youre going on ahead. Theres not much else here.

The three of you continue to walk down the corridor; the frequency of dead bodies still remains constant.

Eventually, you reach a large room just like the storage area you were in not too long ago. Theyre not very creative with their interior layout, are they? Youre expecting a giant mech any minute now

Wait. There is one. You can hear it, the sound of metallic clanking, but you cant see it. You look up--your eyes widen.

The mech is flying chaotically in the air with rockets, but it doesnt look like itll stay up there for long since its being beaten down by Thorns bare fists. After a few more punches, he jabs right into the rocket thrusters and yanks out a bunch of wires which causes it to blow out and crash the mech to the ground.

Upon impact, it explodes into flames and smoke.

Thorn casually walks out of the bellows of smoke and stands right before you with a blank expression. Even with the sight of Rose, he does not say a single word. Its like hes not even there mentally.

Suddenly, he erupts with a sharp yell and covers his head. R...run...I cant--

He blinks, then stands up straight with his blank expression returning. He snaps his fingers.

Just then, the katanas in Roses hands shoot out flames from the hilts and fly away to Thorn.

He catches them, then flourishes them and points one at you. However, he writhes in pain once more. Cmon! Get out of here!

A) Attempt to talk him out of it

B) Use your stick

Rose stares at him blankly, but with a hint of curiosity.

Isabella puts a finger on her chin anxiously. Is he...resisting the brainwashing?

You shake your head and brandish your sticks.

{ STICK EM UP: THORN }

Thorn immediately vanishes, leaving only an afterimage.

Youve seen this trick before; you quickly unleash a spinning attack and stop him in his tracks as you clash against his blades.

However, he overpowers you in the clash and tackles you to the wall. He takes a stab at your head.

You weave your head through his attack and jab his vulnerable hand to disarm him.

His blade flies out of his hand, but that doesnt stop him; he tightens his hand into a fist and smashes you further into the wall, then catches the blade and goes for another stab.

His blade stops short of an inch from your face before it gets blasted away from Thorn. He looks to where the shot came from and sees Rose pointing a smoking tech pistol at him.

She shoots a few more energy blasts at him, as well as a few that dont seem to be going anywhere near him.

He backflips through the shots and tries to get his sword, but one of the stray shots blasts it further away from him, with another stray shot hitting his leg--as though she knew exactly where he was going to be in that moment.

You stay embedded into the wall, thinking about how scarily competent these two are at combat.

Thorn tries to shake off the pain on his leg, but he yells out once again and puts a hand to his head. R...Rosie--

He slaps himself.

He then quickly zooms over to where his blade went, then grabs it and makes a mad dash ahead and away from this room.

Isabella runs over to you and helps you out of the wall. Im glad you werent hurt too much. She looks over to where Thorn ran off to. That was quite an interesting case back there; I dont think Ive seen someone actively resist the brainwashing like that.

Rose looks in the same direction, then stares pensively at her stuffed lion.

You pat yourself off and start walking ahead. No time to reflect.

Isabella and Rose follow behind.

You reach the end of the corridor and see the elevator as well as a flight of stairs. However, you also see a huge hole on the ceiling that seems to go through multiple floors above.

A) Take the elevator to the top
B) Use the stairs to the top
C) Follow the hole to the top

Isabella looks up at the hole. Did that subject do thi--ah!

You quickly hoist her and Rose on your shoulders, then start jumping up through the holes. Looks like youre back on track.

Wait, says Isabella with some concern, we are free to exit on the ground floor. Why are we going higher?

You look at her, point upwards, and without jostling Rose too much, you run your thumb across your neck to indicate a murderous intent.

Isabellas eyes widen. I...I know I said we can make a change, but I did not think we would be THIS direct!

Rose continues to be indifferent to the situation.

You soon find the path of the holes coming to an end. You figure you should be around the 24th floor now. That brings a bit of deja vu for you.

You jump up through the last hole and see the familiar carnage that Thorn caused when he first challenged you.

You also see Thorn himself, clashing blades against the bandaged man in the suit.

Thorn sees you in the corner of his eyes and shakes his head vigorously. Youre not sure what hes trying to say.

You let Rose and Isabella down then take out your sticks.

Thorn rubs his temples a bit, probably from a headache. Rosie...danger!

The bandaged man vanishes in the blink of an eye.

Rose, with lightning reaction, turns around with her gun out and shoots out a bolt, blasting away the neon sword that nearly struck her.

The bandaged man is in view again, staggered by Roses retaliation but keeping a firm grip on his sword.

Thorn appears next to him and clashes blades with him once again.

You join in and take an overhead swing against him with your sticks.

Wait, don't-- says Isabella as she tries to stop you, but she wasn't fast enough.

Rose takes another shot--aimed at his head.

Time slows down. He shoves Thorn back, then jumps high into the air, roundhouse kicking Thorn and you in the face while deflecting Roses blast back at her using his sword.

Time resumes, and the bandaged man vanishes once again, then reappears right up against Isabella.

She trembles a bit, but keeps a firm gaze at where his eyes would be. The girl and the one with the sticks are my subjects, she says in a business voice. Don't try and stop us, Daid.

He pauses, then taps her cheek with the neon edge of his sword, forming a strange wound but not drawing any blood. He then starts dashing towards the staggered Thorn and charges him out the window.

They fade away from view as they both fall down 24 floors.

Isabella puts her hand against her damaged cheek. A cauterized wound...is this a warning, Daid?

You help Rose up then walk back to Isabella. You point at your cheek, then give a thumbs up while raising your eyebrows questioningly.

She smiles at you. Oh, yes, I'm okay. Thank you.

Rose rubs the area she was struck in. Am I...going to die?

Isabella looks at her. We all will. She does a double take at her own words. Wait, that's not right. For now, you'll live, okay? Your shot was minimized by the blade, and it's just a bit of burnt skin.

Rose pauses, then nods with her usual blank expression.

You can tell that Isabella is terrible at sugarcoating her words, but you chalk it up to her being a scientist. Probably. No time to think too much about it; you still have a few more floors to go.
