Criminal charges will not be filed against a student after allegedly saying a math symbol looked like a gun.

On Tuesday afternoon, Allen Parish Sheriff's Office deputies investigated an allegation of terrorist threats at Oberlin High School, according to the department's Facebook page. The investigation revealed that a student was completing a math problem and drew the sign for square root. Deputies say another student made a comment that the symbol looked like a gun and several other students made similar comments. According to investigators, the comment made by the student in question "could" sound like a threat when taken out of context.

I'd regularly get into fights and get suspended along with the shit starter just because of that.

but all of my teachers knew my character and vouched for me to get less days than the other person. still pretty fucked up.

the thing about those kinds of zero tolerance policies is all it does is:

Invites a bully who hates another kid so much to just regularly get in fights with the person they hate, so they miss so much school that they have to retake a grade.

If a student gets knocked out cold after getting jump that kid will not get in trouble. What you probably have issue with (and rightfully should) is that when a kid gets jumped and fights back it is considered mutual fighting. I'm sure there a few outlier cases where a student who gets beat up and doesn't fight back got suspended, but I can guarantee you 9/10 times it's for "mutual fighting".

Really? I've heard stories of students who got jumped and knocked out and got suspended along with the assaulter for "fighting"

Regardless, all it does is invite students who already hate school to bully and fight those they dislike/hate to spread the misery
