Truth or Dare was hilariously stupid. I am so glad I went to see it. It does all the things you shouldn't do in a horror movie, but it did one really clever and good piece of writing that I have to actually give it props for.

I'll put it in spoilers even though it's freaking Truth or Dare.

At the beginning of the movie, the first thing that happens in the Truth or Dare game was Lucy Hale's character being asked to tell the truth to the question "If aliens attacked Mexico and you had the choice between sacrificing everyone in Mexico to save everyone in this room (her friends) or would you sacrifice everyone here to save the millions of people in Mexico, what would you choose?" And Lucy Hale's character says that she'd sacrifice all of her friends to save Mexico and they give her crap for it.

Fastforward to the end of the movie and Lucy Hale's character has the option to let the game end by having her and her bestie Jesse Quick eventually die in it or drag all of the people she can online into the game and effectively sacrifice them to save her and her bestie. So I thought that was really clever and great writing. Although I like how subtle they were with it, but I feel like there was a better way to have this theme go on in the movie.

Im caught up now, but holy crap that was a good double eviction.

I read a tweet that hinted that there was a lot of crying this episode and I interpreted it as maddie's getting eliminated at the 2nd half of the double after her crying fails and literally every conversation during the episode made me think it was going towards that &quot;don't tell johnny&quot;, ryan winning the veto and jeez it was emotional

the episode was really good, but from the daily updates (I'm still a week behind on this...), the episodes don't do the live feeds justice

I picked up Dead by Daylight. Im having a lot of fun, and it is genuinely thrilling when youre hiding from the killer and not totally sure if they saw you or not... until they start sprinting to your location.

Or playing the killer and giving someone false hope when they think they got away, just to jumpscare them from another angle and slap them with a machete.

I'm a little bit more than halfway through The Terror, and damn do I love this show. I really enjoy how the monster is basically the LEAST scary party of it all. I'm pleasantly surprised that most of the true, genuine horror comes from the question of survival and how each episodes builds up a new despair the characters (a terrific cast btw) must at least try to overcome. Much like its characters, the show tries to keep up an aire of hope whilst simultaneously being bombarded with tragedy after tragedy that make it almost unbearable to watch at times (but the grips of its chilly and claustrophobic atmosphere keep you going anyway!).

The Terror is definitely not without its squeamish moments too which are always pretty tough to not reel back at, so that's much appreciated.

This is my favorite unsung horror gem at the moment.

Watched a really great movie last night called 100 Bloody Acres. It's very reminiscent of Tucker & Dale vs. Evil with an Australian bend (it's got two brothers, people going head first into chopping machines whilst legs stick out, even a romantic angle) but it plays around with its tropes rather than outright satirize them. It's extremely funny and the performances are outstanding (it features Damon Herriman of Justified fame and Angus Sampson from Fargo) and there's some great moments of gore and splatter if like that sort of stuff.

...It's not exactly horror, but it might as well be since literally every good person eventually dies horribly

Stephen King movies are usually great but Stephen King shows are usually pretty weak (see The Mist and Under The Dome in particular) so I'm hesitant
