I will have to watch Dogtooth some time. The Lobster didn't really disturb me even though it was still very very weird.

I've heard people recommend Kill List to those who like Hereditary, so i may need to check that out.

I dunno, I've watched Begotten and, though the beginning is definitely very fucked up and freaky-looking, the rest of the film was pretty uneventful.

Dogtooth is another one I bailed on early, just cuz it seemed like it was trying too hard to be weird without much substance. Maybe it gets better, I dunno. Same with Nymphomaniac.

Lol pretty good takes on it. I side more with Jay, though i enjoyed it even more than he did - the middle is less eventful, sure, but given the context of the end of act 1, i was so taken aback and fascinated with how the family would deal with that - i don't think it ever got too slow.

Mike does have a good point about the ending - devil worship is kind of an easy fallback, and Annie's work with miniatures didn't really flesh out into a meaningful metaphorical connection within the story.

I saw an interesting comment that the movie did have test screenings, in which Peter stabs his own eyes out, but most of the audience disliked it so they changed it. If that's true I'm kind of annoyed - that would give much more meaning to the drawings in Charlie's notebook with his eyes crossed out, and the photo of him in the attic with holes cut out over his eyes.

I disagree with them that The Witch is better, I think Hereditary beats it on almost every aspect.

btw Snake, what did you think of Hereditary? i assume you've seen it but i haven't seen you comment on it - i take it that means you were disappointed? ha

Hope you don't know all of them. One is important not to know imo. I've seen it twice now but having that initial surprise was very crucial and special.

They should have released a deluxe edition of the Wii U Smash Bros asap after launch and then started working on an actual Smash 5 for a few years from now.

Xenoblade 2 is to Xenoblade 1 what Final Fantasy 5 is to Final Fantasy 4 (... in how related they are, not a quality statement)

X is completely different in structure so it's beyond its own thing - 1 & 2 are narrative games, X is not.

It's going to be exceedingly difficult to review it without spoilers so I'll leave it at this: I predict much butthurt over the final act.

The fighting sequences were great and they cut down on the whole snarky banter in serious situations to match the heavy mood of this installment, but nothing could've prepared me for that ending. Well aside from reading comics maybe, but where's the fun in that?
