In-between his rambling about lobsters to his recent sham of an interview he had with VICE news where apparently, men and women aren't able to work together.....why? Let's ban makeup or whatever he says.

I don't understand how people can take him seriously, if it's the right wingers or just the centrists who always cry about wanting to hear every side while allowing horrible views.

He didn't say men and women can't work together at all or that make-up should be banned in that interview. He said maybe it should be banned, and he was clearly questioning that idea himself when he said it.

I mean look at Bill Kristol of all fucking people.

Its a long term trend

The point that he makes by comparing humans to lobsters is that the nervous system evolved very early on in the "higher" animals, as humans and lobsters are only distantly related but have obvious similarities in how their nervous systems work. He uses lobsters in particular because they have a nervous system that is very easy to understand and map out, in addition to having independently evolved social behavior. He uses the nervous system as a way to express how psychology is rooted in biology and that there are proximal causes underlying the ultimate causes of our behavior and mood.

Secondly the Vice interview is known to have been edited to make him look bad, but even in the edited version he doesn't make the claim that men and women shouldn't be allowed to work together.

I don't know much about this guy, but isn't he the super pro-free speech guy who was railing against some pronoun bill a few years ago? Seems a bit odd that someone like that would even toy with the idea of banning something like makeup.

Yet another person forming an opinion on someone based on a heavily edited "interview" video

Vice got 2 hours worth of footages, and yet they are only honest enough to give you this dishonest 15 minute hit job.

He also literally argued that Australia should keep gay marriage illegal, not because he believed it was wrong, but because he literally just wanted to stick it to the political groups he doesn't like. He's ridiculous.

I saw that interview and he doesn't seriously recommend banning makeup.

Why does the left need to lie about what people say in order to argue against them.

Except when you are referencing the underlying neurophysiology of a species specific behavior with no evidence that any homologous system exists in humans, what you are really doing is just bullshitting with things that sound like science grounded advice, but might as well be coming from your ass.

Are you gonna start with this crap where I will post a source proving it's true and then you'll attempt to disprove my source with a study that disproves a completely different source?

I don't care for Jordan Peterson's blatherings, but the "integrity" of VICE news is an even bigger joke than lobster theory. Cathy Newman's super biased interview with him was ridiculously meme-worthy (you can easily find it on youtube). Every time the man breathed, she immediately tried to twist it into patriarchal supervillainy. The bitch would have made Fox News proud...

Like even leftists who would normally root for anyone grilling Peterson were commenting about how cringey and hostile Cathy's deliberately misinterpretative responses were. Honest news is not her business.

1. Your source had nothing to do with the claim.
2. The effect that your source had been showing evidence for has been debunked in systematic replication studies.

No need to have this argument again since you just wanna stick to being intellectually dishonest so that you can stand by your original claims.

Wrong, you showed the methodology from a different study, completely separate from Peterson's source, was shown to not be repeatable. It did not in any way debunk the effect.

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong...

The fact that you're willing to argue one of these things but not the one where you have to defend your source indicates to me that you're really not sure of your claim anymore.

Lmao.

What my response means is that I'm not gonna let you spout misinformation, already stated the truth with regards to the replication issue. I'm not going to argue with someone about a replication failure when they think every study needs to be directly challenged for their ideas to be affected by another study lol.

But if you'd like to show me how that paper addressed the claim "standing up straight will increase your serotonin levels", even if we don't assume that the studies effect is just an artifact of publication bias, be my guest.

My main problem is that he legitimately argued that Australia should keep a homosexual marriage ban, not because he disagreed, but because he wants to stick it to 'cultural Marxists'. I mean, an ignorant bigot is one thing, but to suggest things that are backwards and self-harming just to spite a nebulous, evil entity is just plain stupid.
