Even if they allowed pets you'd have to be a humongous asshole to move a basset hound into an apartment

Just claim it's an emotional support dog to get around it. Bad rules deserve to be broken

I would never have a scent hound in an apartment, just doesn't seem fair to the animal. I had beagles growing up on property, they would chase trails for hours a day and come back exhausted and content. I think basset hounds are a bit lower energy but still need to follow their nose in the same way.

Yeah I grew up with two beagles they are really high energy. My sister actually has two beagles now (new ones) and she lives in an apartment with her boyfriend and the dogs seem pretty happy. I was hoping basset hounds would be a bit easier to take care of since they are slow fat dogs.

Energy Level: Not Very Active; Bassets are not the most active breed but do need regular walks to stay healthy. biggest concern is keeping the ears clean (the only thing that has to be taken care of).

Yeah, them and service dogs have different rules. This doesn't work.

I know. But most places don't know the difference. Anyone can claim their dog is an emotional support animal, it's then up to the apartment to say not allowed

this is terrible advice and puts animals into shelters and gets them killed

To be honest I mistook them for bloodhounds, which from what I understand need the occasional long trail sniffing. Yeah Basset hounds are known to be pretty lazy.
