Tony Garces was accidentally SHOT by Texas Police after he disarmed a potential church shooter who held more than 100 people hostage!!

35 y/o Joshua Len Jones barged into the church at Faith City Mission in Amarillo on Valentine's Day and pulled out a gun but Tony managed to disable him during a scuffle but when police arrived, they shot TONY instead!!

It took place in the morning at a Christian Organization that helps people in need as Joshua received help from them in the past and then finally snapped and held 100 congregants and staff hostage..

Church staff and attendees overpowered him and Tony got ahold of the gun..he said "Hey, hey i got the gun"

Then police showed up and ordered him to throw the gun on the floor but he hesitated as he worried that the gun was loaded and suddenly they shot him!!

He said "I didn't want anyone else getting hurt. Then pop, pop they shot me. I went down, then a puddle of blood. I thought i was a gonerr"

Tony credits the church for helping him turn his life around after a 4 year stint in prison and was hit in the neck but was rushed to hospital and survived.

He is now wanting more police training in use of deadly violence after the officer shot him

Jones is charged with a six first degree felony and aggravated kidnapping

studies have shown that less than half of american actually owns any guns. so it's not fair for cops to treat everyone like they have a gun.

not fair. you ignored the reason he hesitated. he was actually trying to save the cop's lives.

it's actually not smart for cops to tell someone to drop a gun. you are supposed to put it down slowly

Oh, only around half? That's cool, nothing to worry about then...
Of course, considering average population age and not taking into account the number of people that would have more than one, that's only around 100-150million guns at best. I mean, with just under 800k active sworn personnel, it's really no biggie.

They do need to be more careful about the use of lethal vs non-lethal tactics but I can hardly blame them for being nervous.

They should've waited until he shot one of them, so they could verify

Just like they should wait until someone shoots them to verify that the person isn't unarmed
