Like, an AI hooked up to gun turrets that will eliminate any targets that pose a threat to the children. Like, the second someone pulls out a gun anywhere in the building the turrets would deploy and turn the shooter into swiss cheese.

As long as you made the AI three laws compliant, I can't see there being an issue with it. You also wouldn't put the children at risk of a teacher snapping and pulling a gun on them. The AI would be a completely impartial protector. :o
