Very well could have been, and there's plenty of "libruls" on CE that support a total gun ban. At the very least, the suspect would have gotten away and potentially never identified or caught---being able to continue the savagery (with a gun despite them being 'illegal').

The situation without a means to defend themselves would be as follows (best case scenario):

1. Comply. Give the thug the money from your business.

2. Hope the thug does not kill you after giving him the money.

3. Let him run away and hope police are able to track the thug down.

Instead, because of the 2nd amendment, we have an injured and caught thug and no loss to the business and no loss to innocent life.

All I can say is I have mad respect for those women... Not only that, the mother was intelligent about the fact that he was fighting her for her gun and emptied it out before he successfully stole it from her.
