I'd love that. I don't have much interest in 3, but Diablo 1 was one of the few mid-to-late nineties PC games I was able to play and enjoy; never got a good chance to play 2 and I'd jump at a modern remaster.

But 90% of the reason people played D2 was for the hacking. I seriously doubt many people thought Baal runs were fun.

the hacking has never been as bad as people say

the worst was people jumping into rooms to spam "come buy diablo 2 loot at thisisarealaddess.com!"
obviously those sites were supplied with hacked items, but for the most part you never saw people hacking in general games (maybe the odd time you would come across someone who happens to get lucky and find the way too often) too often, if at all.

i've played a barbarian to level 95 on bnet, a necro to 87, and a paladin to 85+ back in the prime of d2 (probably 10-12 years ago now) and I never saw anything that was a result of hacking, except again for maybe the very odd person happening to find every waypoint or entrance to the next area.

back in the day baal runs were fun, because people wouldn't just make a game and while rushing baal, there would always be banter or drama going on (I remember one chaos sanctuary run I got into it with someone because I died to iron maiden like 5 times, or whatever curse it is reflects damage back at you)

I'd personally only care about the single-player, as in the original Diablo; online play doesn't hold much value for me. I assume D2 had a decent single-player story / campaign, but tbh I know next to nothing about the game other than that it's considered a godly sequel over 1.

This is not true. the worst D2 hacking were ones that could PVP flag you.

There were also duping exploits that were fixed but Blizzard never really ever got around to removing the 50 billion duped Stone of Jordan

Yall botted, yall hacked the maps, yall auto-potion or auto-exited the game if you was about to die, yall had duped fucking items like crazy... I mean yall hacked the living shit out of the game.

Hell, yall even wrote an algorithm to know exactly when and which game that Black Diablo appears so you could farm him for his drops. The hacking of D2 was that fucking bad.
