wouldn't be annoying if i didn't have to go through several cutscenes every time i reload since there's no opportunity to save between some of the scenes

at least a few of the non-button-pressing ones are skippable

Is this consistent through the whole game or just temporary

Also it really is amazing how two characters who say "I'm sorry" all the fucking time can illicit completely different reactions from me

I love Colette, but I fucking hate Emil

my pet peeve with the game was that Emil and Marta are the only new party members, I was expecting Alice and Decus to join you at some point because of how prominent they were in pre-release stuff, but they never do and you just get monsters you can't control and extremely limited versions of the Symphonia party who would mostly really just be better off not being there, also too many recycled maps even though they remade most of the assets anyways

I don't like Xillia 2 as much as I could for similar reasons, most of the party members are just kinda there because they have stuff to recycle and you don't get to explore much more of Elympios even though everyone's dressed in its fashion

okay i don't understand the unison attack thing - is it just supposed to be that weak-ass devil's maw thing every time? i've gotten the little element wheel in the bottom left to be all the same, isn't that what it's for?

also lol the guy who voices Linar is definitely the guy who voices Jude in Xillia, which is funny because those two look almost identical

he's also Flynn in Vesperia

also lmao the skit of Colette channeling her inner Raine was pretty funny ("Ruin Mode")

Don't do this, bad idea mate. There's a late game fight against Alice and Decus where it's just Emil, Marta, and whatever monsters you've been training up to that point, it's game over if all playable characters die, and that fight can be a pain in the ass even if you've been using monsters like you're expected to.

Okay, my memory of all this is pretty shaky because I haven't played in a while and I don't have the game anymore, but here goes. Basically to get the most of Unison Attack you have to try to use more elements that match up with your party members, and if enough(?) match up, then you can get some party members to participate in the attack. That's all I remember about UA in that game, sorry. Not really worth bothering with once you have Mystic Artes. Emil and Marta actually have a dual MA where if they both have Special equipped, you get an even(?) mix of light and dark element, and at least half (but not full) meter when you use a Unison Attack, but that deals less damage than their individual MAs so it's not really worth it.

Oh, and keeping the element wheel all the same helps recruit monsters that have the same element easier. Or something like that.

Oh, on that note, you can actually use Ain Soph Aur during gameplay. Something like, hold B during Ratatosk!Emil's portrait cut-in. It gets stronger the more monsters you've recruited, but it's never worth the extra 100 TP, and you lose it during the final chapter anyway.

Man it is so fucking hard to manage TP... I think the problem is that if you hit an enemy, you only get the TP point per hit if it flinches, as opposed to Tales 1 where you still get the TP as long as the enemy isn't blocking, regardless of the flinch or not.

But man, I mean, Emil's max TP is 65, which means an orange gel heals about 21 TP. Demon Fang, his lowest TP arte, uses 5. So an orange gel is good for just FOUR artes.

These TP problems better go away soon

grinding is fucking pointless too because these battles are <200 EXP per, and leaving and re-entering the map triggers this dumb mini cutscene of a wind door opening, not to mention the fact that colette literally can't level up.

at least there's a heal point, but still. Most I'm going to get is one level out of this since they still need over 1,000 to level up at this point

speaking of getting good, Raine uses Photon in the cutscene like a badass, then she joins the party and I look through her artes and OH NO PHOTON, just like Colette and Angel Feathers... they have them in cutscenes, but not in the actual game...smh

Which brought up another point; Raine's artes are as follows: First Aid, Dispel, Charge, Recover, Sharpness, Barrier. Obviously support, right? Since she has no offensive spells, I think I'll set her to support and let her cast barrier and shit. Just like last game.

NOPE, they DUMBED DOWN the strategy options, for whatever reason. Whereas in ToS1, you could set her to support and she would use Field Barrier / Acuteness right away, and then attack and heal as necessary. Now, the only options are "Attack freely" (which has her doing melee attacks...), Block Magic (attack enemies that are casting), Moderation, Save (both TP-related), and Hold Position, which is just stand still.

So great. Raine is useless (for now). bruh
