Not sure it'd ever get remade. However, if it did, hopefully they'd cast Dean Ambrose in Roddy Piper's role.

Half the charm of that movie was in the terrible acting. If they remade it today, it would be an overproduced CG disaster.

Not really how remakes work, though. Usually the better a movie was, the more likely some studio exec will be to try to remake it for a quick buck. Luckily, however, a lot of those projects get stuck in development hell =p

If they remade it the story would be secretly communistic with the hidden alia s being racist intestlar capitalists that make people fight each other so they can steal theearths riches and humans have to band together to attack all the richest ceos in the world who have slightly altered names and appearances because they are all part of the capitalist alien group.

Naturally the U.S. pres will be sympathetic to aliens and will go on some stawmanned monologue about how capitalists believe in survival of fittest and social darwinism and equate it to capitalism somehow and its evil to fight against your slave opressors.

What studios SHOULD do is remake bad movies. You know, make it good the second time around.

If a movie didn't perform well once at the box office, studios tend to assume that the same will be true of the remake so it's a money-losing prospect. Plus a lot of bad movies don't deserve to be remade. However, in general, I should note there's a curious contempt for film & tv remakes not found in other media. People are okay with covers of songs, revivals of renditions and plays are often praised while being compared to previous versions, etc.

Well, it has another meaning dating back to 2011 apparently

Most people call it digital hoarding, though. And that term goes back to 2012 or earlier

Again, have you saved up money for the wall that YOU claimed Mexico would "pay for"? (If Trump raises tariffs, Mexican companies will raise the prices, meaning American taxpayers will actually be paying for the wall.)
BTW, GWB tried raising tariffs on steel. He backed down a year later, after American companies were closed due to the negative effects.

...and if Mexican companies raise their prices, people start buying American and there's more money going around in *our* economy instead of flowing out to a nation which undercuts us on labor thanks to unsafe working conditions and abysmally low wages. We have a massive trade deficit with Mexico before you even get into the fact that Mexican government is helping people sneak across our border including, as the NYT reported, by providing them with pamphlets detailing the best places to make a crossing.

In general, tariffs tend to be more of a Democrat thing because most Republicans don't give fuck-all about labor whereas Democrats listen to unions, etc. Tariffs protect US labor and -- back before tariffs were gutted (mostly by Republicans) -- tariffs used to pay for the majority of the federal budget which is why income taxes were far lower. However, people decided to fuck over Americans twice -- first, by letting foreign labor undercut them THEN by charging them more for the privilege of having their jobs lost (higher taxes).

And the only way to do that is to ensure that other products were being made in the US instead of overseas, otherwise the foreign is undercutting the domestic. The government has created every incentive for businesses to manufacture abroad.

...hence why we need more taxes on imported goods. Otherwise the companies that rely on American labor will be undercut by companies that use foreign labor, thus forcing them to use foreign as well. It's about leveling the playing field.

No, just no. Other countries have threatened to raise tariffs on US exports. A tariff War is the LAST thing you want, as it would mean higher costs at the checkout. Even you should understand that nobody wants to pay more simply because Trumpy wants a wall that wont stop illegals or drugs.

Uh, what? These are completely different issues. If Mexico was being tariffed to fund a wall, Europe wouldn't raise its tariffs to defend Mexico. And a tariff war with Mexico wouldn't happen because Mexico knows it would be suicide for them, considering that we account for the largest share of their exports.
