They get them to perform in order to win a galactic war against some evil aliens. After a few episodes, the aliens decided to play them at their own game by using the band's asshole keyboardist Watanabe and retrofitting him with 8 arms to be a band on his own so that he can match Black Heaven's sound. He does so successfully. Dejected, Tanaka is reinvigorated on the 11th hour by his ex-gf who manages to bring him all his old fans (Tanaka was a washed up artist by the start of the series) and after an emotional moment, plays a unique song from his heart.
