I play through Earthbound and Super Mario RPG probably once a year or a little more often.

Always start my vacations (I.E Winter, Spring and Summer Break) with a Gimmick run of Dark Souls.

I've started doing class-restricted runs where you pick a a class at random and can only build your character and use items that are appropriate for it. For example, if you roll Cleric, you can only wear Cloth and Cleric Armor, must use Blunt Weapons, can only upgrade divine and occult, etc.

I can blitz through that game no problem and it's fun to try to play a specific way.

I think I might do the same with Dark Souls 3 now though.

Xcom tends to creep back in... Mass Effects 1-3 were like that for ages, until Andromeda made me lose interest in everything.

Not intentionally, but I end up playing some pretty often

Like go out of their way to do and then not again for that year? Not really. Closest might be LttP but some years I'll beat it a few times and other years not at all. Maybe there are some fighting games which might qualify as well.

Normality, it is a stupid adventure game but I just love going through it once a year. Usually only takes me a couple of hours since I can pretty much solve all of the puzzles from memory and it doesn't require any gameplay beyond puzzle solving.
