Trump wanted Cohn to support the tariffs and Cohn quit instead of endorsing something he doesn't believe in. Good on him.

it's almost like nobody supports those tariffs.

also, Mr. Cohns departure will bring the turnover number to 43 percent.

Hopefully the end result of this is that Congress decides to take back the power to tariff.

https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/03/tariffs-congress-handed-president-power-to-levy/

FDR brought with him to office the old Democratic favoritism toward free trade, but also decidedly Wilsonian views on the relations between president and Congress. He encouraged Congress to transfer authority on trade matters (as well as most regulatory matters!) to him. This time, the legislature agreed. It was as if Congress threw up its hands in exasperation and said to the president, We cannot handle our authority responsibly. Please take it off our hands, for we will screw things up and lose reelection.

Basically, Congress decided under FDR to give the executive branch the authority to tariff. I say it's time they pass new legislation taking that power away from the executive branch.
