as i remember the first time because i already know the gimmicks to each boss. at least, the six i've beaten so far have been pretty easy because i 'figured out' the trick in the first ~30 seconds of the fight.
1/3 of the experience is figuring out what to do and now that i know the trick, the actual execution isn't really that challenging or (tbh) that interesting. --- Playing: Shadow of the Colossus (PS4), Owlboy (PC) (~);} - Get out the pans, don't just stand there dreamin' - {;(~) ... Yeah the first playthrough was definitely the best but I still found replays fun.

i have the same issue with Portal, or any puzzle game.
times like these i wish we could selectively erase our memories. --- Playing: Shadow of the Colossus (PS4), Owlboy (PC) (~);} - Get out the pans, don't just stand there dreamin' - {;(~) ... Copied to Clipboard!

I remember feeling good when I figured out how to make a titan vulnerable without looking it up.

I remember feeling good when I figured out how to make a titan vulnerable without looking it up. it feels so much better to figure it out on your own. the majority of the time i look something up i immediately regret it and think "ugh, i could have figured that out if i spent a few more minutes". then, of course, there are the times i look it up and think ".... what stupid fucking game design, i would have NEVER figured that out". --- Playing: Shadow of the Colossus (PS4), Owlboy (PC) (~);} - Get out the pans, don't just stand there dreamin' - {;(~) ... *charges sword* i rarely go for the fully charged strike for that very reason. i usually let it get to ~50% and then BAM --- Playing: Shadow of the Colossus (PS4), Owlboy (PC) (~);} - Get out the pans, don't just stand there dreamin' - {;(~) ... Copied to Clipboard!

Spidey5 posted...*charges sword* I don't think I've ever pulled off a full strike, actually. Plus, if you jump and stab in the air, that does good damage without charging. Especially useful against 16. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's like Red Dead Redemption. First playthrough is fantastic. Second time around is "meh".

I've never managed to pull off the jump stab attack. Then again, when I played it I was a scrub who didn't really know most controls aside from hold on and stab.

This is a problem with all "puzzle" games. Once you know the solution, it's nowhere near as hard or as interesting the second time through.
