The old guard of heavy metal isn't down and out just yet. Priest came out with this new record today. While I liked Angel of Retribution and Redeemer of Souls, this blows those away in terms of consistency. If nothing else, Im a fan of catchy riffs to carry songs. I will take those over epics, crazy vocals or complex guitar solos, and whatever. I felt Redeemer had maybe 3-4 good songs, but Im halfway through this album, and theres no bad song yet. Priest is known for speed, but Im partial to songs like Spectre, the main riff acting like a sledgehammer to the face.

Faulkner and Tipton bring dual, downtuned guitars to fit Halfords lower register perfectly, the bass and drums bash and plow forward, and the production is a new level. It shouldnt be a shock, since they brought back their 80s era producer, the guy who recently invigorated Saxon and Accepts albums this decade, and Iommis producer came along for the ride as if it wasnt badass enough. Three ace producers with Priest equates to metal greatness.

I guarantee all the Top 5 Priest Albums and Best since Painkiller praise is warranted. I can't find a bad song hereGod Damn
