Bad news for your tanking chances tonight, tranny. Pistons have lost 17 of their last 18 on the road.

Me personally? I'm fine with it. I need to see the team healthy and what moves we make in the offseason to rebalance the roster, but it's clear that there's no offensive help for him so teams hone in on him and force him to shoot long twos and threes. I said it was an overpay at the time and losing that draft pick hurts more since it's gonna be in the lottery (barring a miracle and we win the lottery).

A solid chunk of Pistons fans are absolutely pissed, want everyone fired and new ownership. It's gotten so bad the owner has blocked comments on his instagram or something.

Personally, I'd rather just let SVG finish out his contract and see what he can do. Firing him a year early doesn't solve anything (as our history of firing coaches proves), there's no must have GM and coach waiting out there, and people are putting out names like Chauncey Billups for GM which makes me want to gag. What qualifications does Billups have to take over as GM? Would we even be considering him if he never played for the Pistons? Arn Tellem, a former player agent, was added as vice president and some people think he's the heir apparent (and will take over as GM this offseason while SVG stays on as coach) but once again, what's his qualifications? Negotiating for a client is much different than putting together a winning basketball team.

It's not the trainwreck I think people make it out to be, but there's gotta be some serious changes in the offseason to the team. I think a healthy Reggie Jackson alone goes a long way but beyond that they absolutely need more shooting.

Kerr pulling the Pop on Pop

I feel like the Pistons will be more able to evaluate when Reggie is healthy. You cant win with that point guard rotation, especially when its the most important position in the league (the teams with the six best records might honestly be the teams with the six best point guards. (Harden (or CP3)/Steph/Lowry/Kyrie/Lillard/Westbrook)

Pistons have a winning record when he's healthy and a non-winning record when he's hurt.

Yes, I hate pinning our hopes on him because he's inconsistent but the team is just better when he's healthy.

Fox needs a summer to work on shooting but he's gonna be good

I just looked at Griffin/Harris and it looks like they're more or less a push since the trade. Griffin has 20/7/6 with a 17.0 PER/.514 TS% and Harris with 20/7/3 with a 18.8 PER/.571 TS%. plus who can mess with all-world efficiency machine BOBAN. Clippers look like they made out just fine for what was widely perceived as a salary dump.

i think it was illness this time, not injury, right? but yeah, he looked like i do in pickup games out there - well intentioned, trying to make the right play, but just too weak/slow/almost too spacy to do anything decisive.

that crowd seemed utterly absurd toward the end, wish i could've been there. TNT's commentary was garb, lmao.

I don't have data to back this up but it feels like the Celtics do best when they're down guys and facing adversity. I wonder if they would be better off long term to package 2-3 of their good players for a star. I don't know who I'd have in mind but it does feel like shortening their rotation helps.

pretty much any team is better (especially in the playoffs) if you trade two players for a star, man. no one here thinks the C's wouldn't be better if you gave up horford and brown for anthony davis.

i think players stepping up in others' absence isn't just a celtics phenomenon. look at the pelicans since boogie went down. or the lakers without lonzo when they statted their latest tear. or First Option Draymond putting up 25-11-7. it's just not sustainable over the course of a season.

smart is a RFA. celtics can't get value from him unless they S&T. i still like his game more than scary terry's, but sadly you can only have so many guys and so much salary... that's going to be a hell of a decision for danny

I don't think you can S&T restricted free agents, either. Hence why Detroit last year rescinded their QO to KCP instead of trading him once they traded for Avery Bradley. I think you have to wait so long after resigning a restricted free agent until you can trade them.

My last comment was directed toward Cokes about moving Smart during the off-season.

RE: moving pieces for a better piece (and technically giving up "value") - I theoretically agree - we have way too many competent dudes that deserve more minutes. But I have a hard time seeing a guy like McCollum bringing us into the actual championship picture - that means beating LeBron and the Warriors. At this point, if we're doing a many-for-one deal, it better bring in a guy like Paul George. And if we can't get another dude like him, then we can just hold tight, let Hayward come back, and be a better version of this year's Raptors.
