Why is a successful console getting ports from a console that tanked, was marketed like ass, and that most people didn't even realize existed

It's just stupid man. I already played these games so that means everyone else has. Switch is truly entering a 'dark age' of ports

The thing that I don't like is that a lot of them are standalone ports for full price. If they had put Tropical Freeze and DKCR on one cart I would have bought that day one. Same with Luigi's Mansion, I wish they would have put the original and Dark Moon together on one cart.

Just like Switch wasn't doing too much better than Wii U until Mario saved E3 2017 and THEN real hype for it started to build.

.....But yeah, my Switch has been an Odyssey adapter. Now it's going to be an Odyssey + Kirby + Mega Man adapter for 2018.

Come on, man. Its a Nintendo system. They just coast of ports and remakes. I, for one, am sick of it. Me simply not buying a switch to protest wont make a difference. Slap a Nintendo logo on a piece of dog crap and people will pay top dollar to get it.

It flopped because it held the Wii brand name, which appealed to the casual audience that had moved on to the freemium mobile game market by that time.

It was also marketed like shit. What is it supposed to be? An improved Wii? And add on a la the N64 Disk Drive?

They didn't give anyone a reason to want it in the first place. The games were fine.

Nintendo consistently has first party games that are of very high quality.

Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild in an 8 month period, two games considered in the running for GOTY. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was warmly received, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was awesome, Splatoon 2 has done well too.

Within the span of 8 months, the Switch had 4 pure exclusive games that are all considered pretty damn good, and one that is available on the Wii-U as well. Nevermind what will be coming out.

I 100% agree that if you could only own one console, the Switch might not be the one to get. As a supplementary system, it is absolutely wonderful.

To put it into context, it sold 12 million in six years. Switch sold 15 million in 11 months.

It baffles me how the Switch is doing so well. It really only seems to have one note worthy title at the moment which is Mario. Everything else is ports or hasn't been released.

I don't know if it's just the plethora of Nintendo fans ran out and bought it but it seems to be doing too well for that.

I do think the hype will wear out for it eventually though. The system just doesn't impress me whatsoever. I'll probably buy further down the track when it's cheap so I can play Mario and Zelda.

The 360 and Ps3 sold roughly 84mil and 80mil, respectively. The Wii U sold about 13 million.

With numbers like these, it's obvious to see why Nintendo would want to get more games on a system that's actually selling.

In any case, the Switch's first year lineup makes the PS4's and X1's look like a wet diarrhea fart.

And the Switch is selling well because the era of the TV as your home media center is over. Home consoles are really the last bit of tech that remained fully tied to televisions. The Switch is what a lot of people wanted - the convenience of a handheld with the game production values of a console. Yet it can still be plugged into a TV.

I realize some people on CE haven't left their room in decades, but the working person with a family and children doesn't have the luxury to sit in front of a TV all day.

And people here are really underestimating the advantages of portability; unless you have a long ass commute, just what do you need all that portability for to the point where you'd buy inferior ports at full price?

I wonder if they'll port over Star Fox Zero . That game controlled like shit , was very slow and even through they promised an improved story mode, it ended up having less content than 64's and it's final battle was utter garbage.

Clearly you're right, which explains why the Switch is selling poorly.

Also, why are you being such a huge ass about it? It's not just the commute. Some of us have 12+ hour work days. By the time I get home I don't have the luxury to spend hours in front of the television.

As far as ports on Switch go, my only gripe is Bayonetta 1 is a downloaded game when I wish it were on the same cart as Bayonetta 2. Give it the Kingdom Heards 1.5 + 2.5 Remix treatment. Both games on one cartridge.
