Last nights poll shows the Democrat is ahead by 6 points. This was a district carried by Trump in 2016 by 20 points. What will their excuse be?

Illegals voting? Soros stuffing the ballot box? People being bussed in from others states to vote? Let's find out!

Lamb is a right-leaning Democrat, a Marine veteran, who is anti-gun control and a former prosecutor.

He's the perfect Democratic candidate for western PA, honestly.

Exactly. Democrats can win anywhere by simply running center right dems in districts like this and progressive dems in blue areas. A center right Democrat is millions of times better than any Republicans seeing as how moderate Republicans are near extinct

the reason they're winning with these kinds of dems isn't merely that they're running the right kind.

conservatives will still vote for a republican who will shit on them over a democrat that represents them for emotional/perception reasons, especially relative to race

it's that dems are seeing historic turnout levels from liberal women

a lot of the blue wave is straight-up the perception that the feminist leader lost her bid for president to a rapist

and to republicans mad about that i say tough shit

i'm not thrilled to have the party continue to ignore workers' issues though.

Still within a polling error, so I'm not super confident, but as I said yesterday in some post, there's no way for the GOP to "win" tonight, which isn't going to stop some of the conservatrolls from gloating if Saccone wins.

The PA Dems aren't the same level of Dems in California.

They're blue Collar Democrats.

The GOP is already setting up for failure.

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/03/12/pennsylvania-republican-chairman-democrat-district-456924

The chairman of Pennsylvanias Republican Party said Monday the special election in which Democrat Conor Lamb is running neck-and-neck with Republican Rick Saccone is in a Democrat district, even though it was represented by a Republican for more than a decade and President Donald Trump won it handily in 2016.

The other reason its so tight is, you have to remember, this is a Democrat district, not withstanding the fact that the president won this by 20 points, Pennsylvania GOP chairman Val DiGiorgio told Fox News on Monday. And Conor Lamb is running at least trying to portray himself as a moderate who goes along with the Republicans on conservative issues. But when you drill down, you realize that's not really true.

That Lamb has run so close to Saccone in a district long held by a Republican has been cited as evidence of a possible wave of Democratic success in next Novembers midterm elections. In 2017, Democrats running in special elections lost closer-than-expected races in Georgia, Montana and Kansas and won the Alabama Senate seat previously held by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

I didn't know there was a special election going on so when I first saw them talking about Lamb I thought he was putting in a super early bid for President

And my first thought was "oh, a sacrificial lamb for President"

I think Conor Lamb is a case where the candidate himself is as much to do with it as the blue wave, though. He has gotten a lot of union support fwiw, though I don't know that he is actually pro-labor in any meaningful way

Pro-gun Democrat should win an election in a red district, while the Democratic party as a whole doubles down on gun bans. Hmm.

Yeah, a lefty dem has no chance in western PA. Its where I live, and outside of Pittsburgh which has a small population in city terms, the metro area is relatively conservative and thats where everyone actually lives.

Sometimes you have to run a candidate that differs on some issue to win certain districts.
