I'm bored, so let's do this. Pretty simple: post a game and I'll rank it versus all the other ones posted so far. Will keep a running list. Will include a blurb for each game.

I haven't played these games! For games I haven't played, I'll do a 5 second google search and rank them based on how much I think I would like them, because why not.

Gungrave looks like a fairly average PS2 action game, while Hitman looks like a watered down version of Hitman 2016 which is pretty great. Don't think I'd be huge on either of them.

A very well-designed game, but one that I didn't really take too. The graphical style was gorgeous but for some reason it gave me vague motion sickness and I thought the gameplay was a little boring.

Tales of the Abyss

While hardly the worst game I've ever played or anything, I have major personal problems with TotA, the biggest one being that the most important part of its story hinges on crapping on Luke for something that wasn't his fault, and then emotionally manipulating him into trying to get back into the good graces of terrible people so he won't feel alone (seriously, Jade/Anise/Natalia are awful). Aside from that, I wasn't a huge fan of the gameplay or graphics.

Looks like SimCity in space. Sort of. Regardless, I like these kinds of games and it has strong reviews, so I think I would like this too.

FTL - Faster Than Light

I've briefly played this game, but not to any significant degree, so I'll put it under the 'never played' list. I'm not a big Roguelike fan (I prefer really hard gameplay that has some degree of difficulty), but I was still impressed by how solid the complete package was.

This game is legendary, especially 1-1 which is one of the most instantly recognizable game levels ever. It lacks the improvements that the genre has advanced on through the years, which honestly makes it better as a history piece than a game, but its simplicty is still very well-designed.

The PS2 era is a rough one for FPS and Action games. Despite the advancements made in the genre, pretty much all of them have aged really poorly. Never played this one, but looking at how it didn't review super well on release, I doubt I would enjoy it very much if I played it now.

Very mediocre gameplay and combat, but the game succesfully glosses over that by switching between genres to keep things interesting. Aside from that, the music is the all-time greatest, the characters are extremely easy to get invested in, and the overall quality of the writing is high even if 1-2 plot points make zero sense (looking at you, Devola and Popola).

As Resident Evil REmake has already been done, I assume you're talking about the FF7 REmake! If it ever comes out, I think I'll like it. Also known as nostalgia-in-a-can. A fair amount of the gameplay is busted/imbalanced but I don't care - when it came out it was fun as hell. The RBY era was a magical period of discovery and new experiences. Stuff like Mew Is Under The Truck would never be possible in the (more) digital age.

There's something about horror games that let them age gracefully. Probably because models/animations that would be oudated by other genre's standard just become uncanny valley in horror, which doesn't really detract from an experience that is supposed to be unsettling. Looks like a fairly average PS2 horror game, but those are pretty cool.

Also going to point out this gem from the Haunting Ground wikipedia page:

Capcom added the dog mechanic during development thinking retailers and players alike would not enjoy a survival horror title with a lone female protagonist.

The idea of a dog companion in a horror game is great, but the reasons why it was implemented are...yeah.

I am really bad at Starcraft but its single player was still really fun. There's just something fun about frantically building up forces to combat waves of enemies. A game with extreme strengths that more than outweight its shortcomings. The music is mediocre and the level of quality for the environments (both in aesthetics and gameplay) is embarrassing for a game released in 2017, but the cast and protagonist are up there for the best ever and the gameplay is a blast once you figure it out.
