according to the CNN coverage i looked at earlier, this is just one guy winning an election. and republicans still are dominating. the graph I saw showed that republicans rule the House or whatever. and this is just democrats making one tiny step towards change. but in order to win, they would need to win a bunch more elections. like 20 more or even more than that.

You should learn to read and think critically before you decide to comment on such things. IIRC you're the guy that voted for McCain though just because Palin is from Alaska so I think I'm asking way too much.

The bigger takeaway is that this is a district that Republicans won by over 20% in the 2016 election. Thats an enormous swing in just a year and a half.

Taken together with the other special elections which have had similar swings towards Democrats, its looking like Republicans may suffer heavy losses in the November midterms if they cant get it together before then.

So win or lose, this is ultimately pointless until November where it actually matters? Why are people hype for this? Actually, this election doesn't get you any closer to taking the house, because the seat will be up for election again in November. So essentially this dude will have to work his ass off over the next couple months to get voters to think he did a good job and deserves their vote again. That's what really makes this whole thing silly.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court forced a redistrict. The new map doesn't keep PA 18 the same. Whoever wins tonight will have a choice between two districts to run for in the fall. It's even possible that both Lamb AND Saccone end up in the House come January.

The old map was heavily biased for Republicans. The new map is actuay fair. If the 2016 election was redone with the new map Democrats would have 3 more seats in the house than they do now.
