Bernie Bros was absolutely a propaganda term like "Obama boys" before it. Tony is correct on this.

Also if I recall correctly, "PUMA" was coined by the people who it described. Bernie supporters were not calling themselves Bernie Bros.

It definitely felt like part of the strategy in the Clinton camp was to paint Bernie supporters as a boys' club-- see the Gloria Steinem and Madeline Albright comments, for example.

I think part of it too was the fact that a lot of quote-unquote Bernie Bro online rhetoric (pushing Bernie supporters towards Trump) that did exist came from the same troll farms that start most of the nakedly pro-Trump propaganda.

Jennifer Scavino, the wife of Dan Scavino, an aide to President Donald Trump who serves as White House social media director, filed for divorce in late January 2018, county records reveal. When the Kushner Cos. bought three apartment buildings in a gentrifying neighborhood of Queens in 2015, most of the tenants were protected by special rules that prevent developers from pushing them out, raising rents and turning a tidy profit.

But that's exactly what the company then run by Jared Kushner did, and with remarkable speed. Two years later, it sold all three buildings for $60 million, nearly 50 percent more than it paid.

Now a clue has emerged as to how President Donald Trump's son-in-law's firm was able to move so fast: The Kushner Cos. routinely filed false paperwork with the city declaring it had zero rent-regulated tenants in dozens of buildings it owned across the city when, in fact, it had hundreds.

While none of the documents during a three-year period when Kushner was CEO bore his personal signature, they provide a window into the ethics of the business empire he ran before he went on to become one of the most trusted advisers to the president of the United States.

The amount of exposure and discussion that term has gotten heavily implies that it is a disproportionate number of people, that it's a large subsection, or that its of particular importance when really it is such a small and trivial group of people that discussing them at all is pretty much without point. I'm pretty sure if there wasn't a section of people, such as Tony described and showed sources of, using it to discredit a branch of their own party that the term would've just died due to how useless it was in describing any meaningful portion of the electorate. Which is evident due to the fact the Sanders-Trump voters are below the norm for cross party voting.

Well, for one, it wasn't meant to describe only those that crossed from Sanders to Trump. It could also include people that crossed from Sanders to third party, or Sanders to not voting at all, but that's beside the point.

The point is that it was used to describe the loud, vocal trolls who were basically bullying people online. Obviously, that doesn't describe any kind of majority at all, but it never does. That doesn't mean it should just be ignored. If it doesn't apply to you, cool, nobody said it did. It's just so confusing why people get so up in arms about admitting the people it did apply to actually existed. You have nothing to defend.

If you think this bickering is bad, go to any Morrowind forum and say "I think [TES game that isn't Morrowind] is a good game", or go to a Star Fox forum and say "I think [game that came after 64] is a good game" for a similar effect.

This is peanuts compared to that.

I mean, it's not like we were having an important debate in a political forum where what we say actually has an impact on things. We were arguing, on a gaming forum, about something that ultimately doesn't matter.

That just... happens. It happens between anyone. It gets heated, people get sarcastic or mad with each other, they walk away for a day, then things go back to normal.

Man maybe the casual revolution of 2007 ending in 2016 and the next era will actually be better. More and more people waking up to how social media and the centralized internet is the fucking plague. Sure we'll have to deal with a buffoon in the white house for a few more years, but it seemed to be the consequence of the fear of missing out, the fear of moving on.

But maybe, just maybe, people will start to spend things like their Saturday afternoons outside again instead of needing to binge watch Stranger Things. And by binge watch I mean barely pay attention to the show because they are also on their phone tweeting about how they are watching the show and making sure they know all the celebrity deaths right when they happen so they get a few more likes, shares, and retweets because they are so "woke" and needing to be the newsbreaker.
