This is kinda interesting. It's not very rich on details so I'm not exactly sure how everything works out in the end. Essentially it seems like the idea is to schedule the staff around 85-88%, so they have more time to recuperate between shifts etc. There's also a 6% of hours allocated specifically in a sort of buffer, to facilitate being on call in case extra staff is needed.
They've been using this model for some 10 years, and a couple of years back they made a comparison with another hospital. It turned out that it was not more expensive.

Again, there aren't a lot of details in there, but it's an interesting example of how efficient administration can improve things and make room for measures like reduced hours with the same pay.

You'd definitely have to look at their tax and social welfare systems if you wanted to apply it anywhere else, though.

Those aren't essential inputs for such a scheduling to be implemented.

If you're not looking for any honest discussion, agreement, meeting halfway or middle ground, don't bother arguing with me. Selfish narcissists need not apply.

If you reduce people's income without appropriate compensation from somewhere else, people tend to get upset about it.

I thought their pay wasn't reduced, only their hours. The positions discussed here aren't wage positions either.

I thought the title meant they were reducing their hours but paying them the same rate. My mistake, then.

Sorry, I mean that they're getting paid the same amount per month as before. IDK if that's wage or salary because we don't have that distinction in Swedish. These are people who get paid a certain amount every month rather than per-hour.
