I... don't really handle loss, or even the concept of death itself, very well. I tend to push any and all feelings away and ignore it. Part of me wants to forget about the phone call and bury myself in work, and another part of me is really angry that I want to do that.

I kind of want to get into a bar fight right now. Or maybe sleep for a few days. I just feel... lost, I guess? I have no idea what to do with myself, but I feel like I have to do something. I just can't figure out what that is.

I've just been staring at the floor for the last few hours. I'm really not okay with the thought of losing my mother. I'm even less okay with not being able to do anything.

Dude it's breast cancer.... Not fatal with the right treatment. My mother went through the same thing 15 years ago. All is not lost OK.

My mom got it last year. They caught it early. She had a minor surgery and then 3 weeks of radiation. She's fine now. Try to relax.

For mine it was two years ago, major surgery, radiation and chemo. She's also fine.

Breast cancer is one of the most treatable and survivable forms of cancer.

I've never been an optimistic person, but I certainly hope you guys are right, and I appreciate the kindness.

Half formed thought that I didn't convey well at all. I was about to go to the bar when I got the call, and I kind of wanted to go anyways, get drunk to a unwise degree, and likely get myself stomped out by some redneck.

I know it sucks for you that you mom has breast cancer, but how do you think she would feel if you got seriously hurt from a stupid bar fight, while she still has cancer. Breast cancer is survivable, but doing stupid shit that could hurt you would also just hurt your mom.

Visit her. Call her. There's no wrong thing to talk about or do with her. There's no wrong way to feel. I mean there are, but you know what I mean.

What I did to cope was put my energy into figuring out things she'd need or would just make her life easier during the surgery recovery.

I still remember how scary and surreal it felt at first though.
