The main thing Ill give Super is primacy - it came first and practically fixed everything lacking or annoying about the first two Metroid games. Super Metroid is great, and it's clearly better than ZM or Fusion. Also, I had very limited experience with Metroid or similar series/games before playing those, so I don't think I'm biased towards it. For SM, while moves like horizontal bomb jumps are hell to do, there are various ways to sequence break the game that don't require being a speed runner. You're overstating the difficulty of a lot of sequence breaks. Sahuagin 03/19/18 8:11:14 PM #31:	I could see maybe (maybe) the gameplay being overrated. it was never really that hard, and it's hard to see how it could be much harder without ruining it. the gameplay is not really rich enough for tons of difficulty. but the atmosphere... that is not overrated. (it is possible I'm not remembering MP properly. also 2D VS 3D could have something to do with it, too, where in 2D up and down very visibly indicate traveling toward and away from the surface; in 3D/1st-person that's not so straight forwardly conveyed). SM you just keep getting deeper and deeper and deeper within the bowels of the planet, till the walls are rippling with heat and the creatures are nigh-indestructible having evolved in such a harsh environment. there are rooms with like 100+ foot deep lava and acid, and you descend into it. what I'd like to see is more of that "here I am in an unfathomably harsh environment, with only this suit between me and immediate death", but the MP trilogy had less of it, not more of it.</quote> ...
