I'm working on some essays now for law school and just answering the basic questions of why I deserve it, what I'll do when I graduate, that kind of thing...

Are you supposed to say that you like came from a hard upbringing and don't have the money to pay for school? That's part of what I'm leaning on because it just seems natural since I'm essentially begging for money, but I don't know and I'd hate to ruin my chances if that's not what you're supposed to do.

depends on who reads it. Some people like a sob story, some don't.

Talk about what that money would do for you like "I won't have to work nights at X job" or "it would mean my parents don't have to help me out" kind of thing.

You say it'll assist in your financial situation. Sound professional about it.

I feel like you can do whatever you want to do but if you're going to include it into your essay it should be there for the sake of reinforcing a point you're trying to make about your own character or how it's something you can use to achieve success in the future. If you're just throwing it out there without tying it in to an overarching concept then it might be kind of shallow.

I'd imagine the submission reviewers are aware that all their applicants are low on money. Focus on why you're worth investing in. What would you do with the law degree? Why are you worth investing in?

One of them that I'm applying for is only open for people of Bohemian descent, so I figured I'd talk about my grandparents immigrating and how nobody in their family went to college so I'm in unknown territory here and I don't have anyone that can pay my tuition...

Is it good to say I intend to go into criminal law and be a fighter to keep criminals off the streets, not taking deals that gets them off with a slap on the wrist? I guess it's again all who the essay is to?

I suppose it'll work. Just hearing the concept alone, it sounds quite idealistic.
