i'm fairly far along in the interview process for a management job myself; i wouldn't have any problem rejecting people, but i'd have trouble firing people, mainly because i'd see them face to face, would have this rapport developed, etc.

Exactly.

Why feel sorry over people not getting your companies job? People are fighting to earn a position.

Unless its the only gainful employment within 20 miles.

If you have a tech company in the midwest and keep selecting recent H1B visa applicants over local talent, then you can feel guilty.

To be honest firing people is not hard just remember it's you or them.

But if they totally suck it can be a little fun inside, I mean youre not the one that made them suck so bad after all

Maybe some people suck because nobody gives them a chance?

What about socially isolated weirdos abused by their parents trying to make a good life for themselves despite no work history or references because they were never allowed to make those connections during their crucial years?
