I remember SF Debris suggesting that Riker go onto a different ship and becoming captain. Thomas Riker (the clone) could have stayed on Enterprise at his current rank and taken Data's role with him becoming first officer.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking of. It sounded like an idea with potential when he said it.

tv in that era was all about keeping the status quo. would have been a neat decision, but super unlikely at the time.

Yeah, the nature of watching itself TV was different. The episode aired once, and you had no way to get a recap or catch up if you missed it until several months later when it aired as a repeat. Since viewers didn't always watch every week, most network shows stayed away from any type of serialized plots that could be confusing to an audience. The Thomas thing would have been really confusing.

I watch a lot of sfdebris videos and this was one of the reviews he's done so I remembered about when it took place.

It is odd, I don't watch a lot of him. But he did get me to think about reaction to male assault victims. There was one episode of ENT, were one of the crewmen was taken advantage of and he pointed out how messed it up was people were joking at him and blaming him.

Ah yes, the pregnant Trip comedy show (Unexpected). He's done that with a few other comedic episodes too. Like Stargate Atlantis episodes Duet and Irresistible.

I love his reviews. There are still a few I've never watched, like his X-Files videos. But some videos I've watched, oh so many times. There are some Star Trek favorites I have to have watched a dozen times or more over the years.
