Like if you take my scenario and make the percentages of correctly called fouls equal, it still benefits the team who fouls more. 70/35 compared to 40/20, both 50% accuracy.

People seemed to be looking at it very narrow-mindedly, to the point of "more fouls called = obviously the game flow was not in their favor". It's simply untrue.

Once MWC beligerrently went over the top and acted insane regarding it, no one cares for an explanation of his underlying statements.

Yes, a team can have more fouls and it be a correctly called game. Jump shooting teams should not get as many foul calls as teams that drive and go inside.

Talking about fouls in this game is pointless. No, Kentucky was not fouled on every possession and their turnovers. They were calling ticky tack fouls out on the perimeter against KSU, and it had their whole team about fouled out.

Yep, I've heard it all now. Usually it's that the refs didn't call enough fouls for your team to win. Now they are saying the refs called too many fouls on K State to purposefully make Washington miss free throws. You have to dig deep to come up with a conspiracy theory like that.

You're right, I probably just saw a chance to talk about something that's always been a personal pet peeve (people assuming fouls are always supposed to be equal) while it was on topic, so that's why I did my little theory thing.

Kentucky beat themselves, in half a dozen different ways. No bones about it. Which is another reason why it's pointless to discuss. It was way more than fouls that caused them to lose.

Also this is setting up very nicely for a Grayson Allen tournament winning three pointer to send him off into the sunset.

He's on average a 60% FT shooter (and that's after the K-State game), which isn't great but it still would have won that game 62-61 all else equal, so it's not even decent by insane conspiracy standards. (He also was 80% against Buffalo.)

Fwiw, my Kentucky friend thinks the officiating was terrible all around and that it should have hurt KSU more than Kentucky. So at least we know they're not all THAT insane.

The preponderance of Kentucky fans blame Calipari for the loss. A good bit blame the refs. (Some still are arguing how the T on Calipari when KSU had the ball which resulted in 1 free throw somehow was a 7 point swing to KSU somehow and Calipari did nothing to deserve the T lol.) Some blame PJ and some blame Quade/Shai. Most blame Calipari though.

I agree Calipari is where I would place the blame also.
