Ted is an obsessive stalker towards Robin. Like 3-4 episodes into the show, he and Robin are standing on the roof and he's trying to convince her that she's into him. The conversation is like

Ted: "there's something here"
Robin: "no there isn't"
T: "yes there is"
R: "no there isn't"
T: "yes there is" (and then he kisses her)

she's literally refusing his sexual advances and he's not backing down, despite her explicitly saying no

Lily basically applies for an art thing in San Francisco as a test to "find out if she can get it" and then like two seconds later decides she's actually going to do it, so she breaks off their engagement like a month before the wedding.

Plus she has like thousands of dollars in credit card debt that she kept from Marshall and didn't tell him until a computer was seconds away from telling him when they were applying for a loan to get a condo

the worst thing is that the final season actually has some moments i really like

but that ending was so bad.
i get that they wrote the ending in the first season and filmed it too
but it didnt fit anymore. the characters were too different for it to work
they really should have scrapped it for a better ending because that ending would have been great if it had been a 1 season long show back when the ending suited what the characters were
but by the end of the shows run the ending didnt work anymore and was terrible

Robin's cool, cheeseball lines but some funny Canada jokes here and there, oh and she's hot.

Barney is the reason to watch.

It was never, ever implied the mother died.

It became a hot theory the longer the show went on and once they actually introduced the mother.

Then there was the time travel episode that pretty much confirmed she was dying.

What pissed people off the most was that, Tracy was a loveable character and she was Ted's match. They offed her JUST so he can be with Robin. A relationship that would NEVER work out and has shown to never work out.

It was at that point that people knew the show was really, "How I wound up with Robin".

And another awful moment is the fact that Tracy has been dealt a shit hand from the moment we are introduced to her. Her boyfriend/fianc died young and suddenly and then she dies after finally marrying and having 2 kids. It's just a miserable finale.

It's an awful finale and ending.

As I pointed out in the other topic, Ted is a monster;

So Ted dates Robin. He dumps Robin because she refuses to go along with his idea of a perfect life. He decides to remain friends with Robin despite their clear differences. Robin and Barney realize they have a lot in common and start dating. Ted decides he doesn't want Barney in his life anymore because he betrayed him. He also decides he has feelings for Robin. He lets it go later. He spends the next few years deciding he is in love with Robin literally every time she starts having a relationship with anyone else, especially Barney, ironically doing the exact same fucking thing he wrote Barney out of his life for. Everytime he gets close, he bullies her to try and force her to believe she can only be happy if she has kids with him and lives in his idyllic family set up. Through the years, he literally only picks women who don't want what he wants and tries to pressure them into being his perfect wife, only to discard them the second it becomes apparent they won't serve his purpose. When he finds out that Barney is trying to propose to Robin, he contemplates sabotaging it, only to 'heroically' change his mind at the last minute. Five minutes later he changes his mind again and tries to sabotage the wedding by making a grand romantic gesture to convince Robin to dump Barney and get with him. It doesn't work and he 'let's her go'. He finds the perfect woman, she dies, and he literally just tells his (asshole) children the story of how he met her so he can get their permission to try and bang aunt Robin again with a grand romantic gesture (despite them being incompatable from the beginning and the fact that he wrote Barney out of his life for the exact same thing), likely leading to another few months of bullying and crying about how she doesn't fit his ideal stereotype before breaking it off again and continuing the cycle of selfish stalking her whenever anyone else enters her life.

Wow... so many unmarked spoilers throughout this whole topic. Also the show was awesome. Some things I would have changed but overall it was a great show.

Pretty much. When they finally introduced her, she was perfect for him. They introduced her so well, and designed her so well, and despite the little screentime. And then kill her off so she can be with someone he's not incompatible with. Like, a lot of his traits annoyed the hell out of Robin, but Tracy loved them and shared many. It made absolutely no sense, and it hit like a truck, emotionally.
But really while that was the cherry on top, the whole finale was a trainwreck.

Teds obsession with Robin is pathetic, they do not work as a couple and it was shown so many times yet Ted never stops wanting her. The fact the ending is him telling the story of HIMYM to the kids to get permission to chase/bang Robin again is just disgusting.

The fact this dude is so horny for Aunt Robin is so disrespectful to the dead mother too in so many ways.
