I'm going to start over, but when I loaded up my old save I see where I was in the game, I had 8 Badges and was 30 hours in

Here was my Pokemon team, but I don't think it was my main one -

Altaria - 48
Magnezone - 47
Samurott - 44
Sigilyph - 44
Roserade - 47
Lucario - 36

Thats my team I have right now. Dont remember a single thing about him other than Lucario is a Fighter and Steel.

Guess I captured him in 2012

Advice I'm looking for -

Just want Pokemon to keep my eye our for. I don't know a lot about these new ones as I don't read the Manga or watch the Anime, and the last game I played was this one back in 2012

And anything else that someone would like to know (Don't do this, it's a trap! Keep this Item or latter, that sort of stuff)

Thanks

Is White 1 Gen 5 as well?

I made a topic yesterday asking about Platinum, but the store didn't have it. But I had White 1 and Black 2 at home, so someone said Black 2 was better

Catch everything on any given route before moving on, this is still the era of HM requirement so make sure you catch a Patrat for that purpose, Don't limit yourself to just one team, swap out as needed, I recommend you always keep your starter on you as well as soft resetting when you get gift pokemon like Deerling, N's Zorua and either shiny Gible or shiny dratini as all of them can be rather strong.

Finally, you should try to keep your team roughly around the same level so in the event you lose a mon, your others aren't easy pickings.

This is bull. Hms are only required once and that was in the first Black and White.

Black/White were terrible, but Black2/White2 were great games that fixed almost every single problem of the originals and are (IMO) among the very best in the series. They're exactly why comparing entire generations to each other simply doesn't work. Compare each game or pair to each other, not each gen as a whole.

Shaking grass can have unique pokemon that you won't encounter just walking around in the grass, and I believe they're slightly higher leveled.

The shaking grass (as well as dark spots in the water, or dust clouds in caves) will still provide an encounter even if you use a repel. You can chain pokemon by repeated going from shaking grass to shaking grass, and it increases your chance of finding a shiny (the grass will sparkle). It's actually recommended that you use repels, as an ordinary encounter will break your chain.

Gen 5 sort of has a split community. Some enjoy it a lot, some don't at all. Some even regard Gen 5 as the best Pokemon games of all time.

black and white 2 are absolutely the best Pokemon games. Story is 5x better then usual and you aren't limited to trash Pokemon the first few hours.

Adding to this, shaking grass is great for level grinding because it's how you find Audino, typically the most common shaking grass encounter with a high experience yield.

there's a mandatory Minccino encounter on Route 5 which Bianca leads you to upon first entering the route, catch and use that Minccino, it has an ability that makes its multi-hit moves always hit all five times including its signature Tail Slap, and if you use some of the Heart Scales the game tosses you after it evolves on Bullet Seed and Rock Blast, you can hit anything but Steel-types at least neutral with its multi-hit coverage

Once you get to the desert, Darumaka and Sandile's final evolutions are both really good. Of note, there's also Litwick and Axew from that generation that you can get a bit later on as well.

In general, Gen 5 has the most min-maxed Pokemon statwise, so most of your choices of Pokemon from that gen are gonna be pretty good regardless. The main issue is that some of them, like Larvesta and Deino, don't get their final evolutions until way past level 50.

I wish I had a guide in front of me. I just want an easy way to see when they learn certain moves and when they Evolve. You go to the Bulba. . whatever, the main Pokemon Page, you have to keep switching the Gen on every Pokemon and there is so much info on the page it's hard to find what I'm looking for

Serebii is best for that. In the left hand sides there are links to the pokedex. You'll want the Black/White Pokedex, it should be the 6th link down. Or use this: https://www.serebii.net/pokedex-bw/

You can sort pokemon by type (most that you'll see will be near the bottom of the page). Once you get to a specific pokemon's page, the levelup moves will be the first section.

Btw, in case the game didn't make it clear enough for you, TMs can be be used as many times as you want. So feel free to teach good TM moves over and over again.

Yeah. There are a handful of things that bulbapedia is better for (like tracking how the moves themselves and other game mechanics change between generations), but serebii is a more useful resource in general. Especially when it comes to details on specific pokemon.

Nah. Oshawott's learnset is balanced around evolving on time for better stats. What moves it does learn later while evolved (than if you don't evolve on time) is mostly just superfluous late/post game moves you won't need.

This doesnt really matter too much on a standard playthrough. Natures/abilities are important if you want to battle competitively with them, but for that you will have to breed them.

So my advice is just play through the game and have fun, dont worry too much about stats, etc.
