Once we figured out that people were immortal everything would descend into war and chaos. People would never work again since they no longer need to provide for their families and would try to steal from everyone around them. Instead of killing people, the new punishment would be burying them alive underground and forgetting about them or cement shoes in the ocean.

The biggest problem with people not aging to me, isn't resources. It's social change. Think of the opinions of your grandparents and how they differ from yours. If everyone from the 17 and 1800s were still alive, we'd still have slavery.
