i personally will never understand the need to "troll" and act like that. it becomes even more confusing when the person in question actually has a good life. jokes and messing around is one thing...devoting time and hours to to a gimmick and "trolling" others to just to rile them up...I don't understand the commitment to that...

Emotional? I'm being purely rational. Disregarding your personal experiences with hurtful people for the sake of politeness seems irrational by comparison because your discarding evidence for a collective illusion fed by the minority of people who actually liked the person. That really doesn't make sense. I'm not saying you should celebrate someone's passing, because that's in poor taste. But don't delude yourself into thinking better of them either, because you have the reciepts.

It kind of sounds like there's an answer you're fishing for and you're dissatisfied with the current selection of responses.

Eh, this is what is often said about online bullying but I just don't buy it. Many people use the internet to get away from the real world shit they have and for a place to just relax. Not be subjected to MORE bullying or people trying to antagonise and ruin their bit of peace and quiet.

People who troll/bully online but are "good" in person are not good people and are really just dicks at heart. They are just hiding it in real life as are more consequences to their actions and they don't have the balls to take them.

But back to the subject, which is the lesser of two evils: the guy who's a jerk in life but not online or the guy who's a jerk online but not in life? Are they the same? I think that's what the TC is on about.

No, an online jerk isn't a real jerk. He's just a guy with controversial opinions. But is still goods at heart

Trolls are annoying. Hell, actual non-trolling shitposters are even more annoying.

But I'd never feel good about their death.

I also feel weird when one of us dies. Like P2E. I never had a pleasant interaction with him. But I felt bad that he died and him being a CEman added to it.

Didn't this already happen with P2E? In the week after his death talking bad about him like saying he was a troll or said messed up things would get you warned. I think it has lessened now to the point where you can say he trolled some users here.

ROD got quite a few accounts banned that week gloating and making fun of the guy. I think there was one other user who really posted some awful stuff too

I'm not sure if it was ROD or not but one user said he was gonna message P2E's family members because he thought he faked his death and was still alive.

Correct, but there was also a weird sect in the userbase here who basically attacked you if you were even the least bit critical of him, because "you can't speak ill of the dead".
