Whenever the government needs money to spend, it needs to borrow it from the Federal Reserve. Which, despite its name, is a collection of privately owned banks. Ever wonder why our money says Federal Reserve Note, and not something like US Government Note? Because the US does not create money, it borrows it from the Federal Reserve. And heres the real kicker: the Federal Reserve is charging interest for every dollar borrowed.
