Basically, you confront the Father and you have the option of either A. Fighting Him or B. Walking away.

A. You fight him in a kind of lame boss fight, end up arresting him and BOOM nukes start going off and you have to make a mad dash to a fallout bunker. You crash on the way there, but Joseph drags you in there, basically gloats that he was right about everything and now you and him are going to usher in a new age when you leave the bunker.

B. You leave, the sheriff while driving away says they're going to get the nation guard. He turns on the radio and the mind control song starts playing implying that you're going to end up just killing them anyways. Presumably, nukes still drop down.

First, every dipshit games journalist who claims there was no political message? They make plenty of comments about how the corporations and the president *cough cough* is going to bring about the end of the world, and then in the end he does. What bigger political message could one possible send?

So yeah, no fucking clue where they go with the series from here. Guess it's just over like Hotline Miami or they're just going to do goofy shit now.

It's pretty lame, but honestly every Far Cry since 2 has had a lame as fuck ending IMO.

It's funny cause it doesn't even really make sense in the context of the game, the opening clearly showed everyone recounting the events of the game in the past in some sort of documentary. It feels like they just completely forgot about that as they were making the game or something since neither ending supports that set up.

Does anyone listen to the news broadcasts on the radios?

I feel like there were a lot of hints in there or something, I kept hearing things about major terrorist attacks in the middle east and stuff right before I finished the game, but I never really paid attention outside of that.

It's dumb, but at least the sequence was entertaining and Josephs final monologue was pretty good.

Let's not forget that Far Cry 2's ending was literally walking down a path and either blowing yourself up or shooting yourself in the head because the guy you've been hunting down the whole game asked you to.

I don't know if it changes depending on what path you go.

But I went after John first, and he specifically doesn't kill you because he wants to convert/break you to impress Joseph.

With Jacob, he is brainwashing you in order to be a sleeper agent and take out the militia leader

With Faith, I don't remember any actual explanation other than her simply saying she wanted you to "understand" or something.

But I kinda plowed through Faith so maybe I missed something.

Yes.

Ubisoft can't write a good villain to save their lives. The only reason Vaas was any good was because the actor played him completely different than how he was written when he auditioned and they decided to go with it.

Originally Vaas was just some heavy muscle guy IIRC

lol I get the feeling this ending is going to really fucking piss off liberals.

Remember how fucking stoked they were to take on "alt right fundies" back when it was first revealed?

Then they go through the whole game and it turns out that Joseph actually was a prophet from god.

I can see why some would find that funny in a troll way.

I only watched it on Youtube though, I've still got one region to go. It seemed pretty bad but maybe playing to it will make it better. I can't see myself walking away and giving up the last boss fight.

I don't really understand the complaints about patrols. They only stick to the main road from my experience, and if you have a gun for hire with you (which you should) they'll probably take them out while you're driving.

The airplanes kind of suck, but that's why you call in Nick to take them out.

But if they're just talking about the forced story missions, it's a really shitty plot device that shouldn't have been used nine times.

Far Cry 5 really has a lot of issues tbqh. It's fun, but like it feels like one step forward, two steps back.

Nah, when you're captured by Faith the second time and taken to Joseph, he specifically triggers a doomsday hallucination so it isn't outside the realm of possibility.

It still doesn't make much sense overall, though.

No, I mean the way the ending itself is structured doesn't make sense, not the fact that it could be a drug hallucination.

It's just a weird ending overall. Like, I understand that when your guns for hire get shot they don't "die" for gameplay reasons, but having the final battle literally be "you have to shoot your friends and bring them back to life" is just weird. And then the fact that at the end you're all gunning Joseph down, but then he's just kind of fine and not dead is weird.

But then it's like, okay, it's just a drug hallucination. But then why is it that Josephs family dies while you're in drug hallucination combat? Why do your friends and Joseph *not* die after drug hallucination combat?

And then when you end up arresting him instead of just killing him? And when you resist him instead of walking away, you let him literally stand there for 10 seconds and douse you in Bliss instead of just grabbing him or shooting him. And how did he manage to turn *all* of your Guns for Hire into Angels?

Like, it's just one of those endings where it seems super coincidental that everything happens, which, I agree, leads a lot of credence to They were all just high as fuck on the bliss. That was my actual first thought when the boss battle with him began, and then when the nukes were dropping. I figured the final battle would be between you and him in the bunker where you gotta just do a final takedown or something and then when you walk out everything would be fine. Instead it just kinda ends.

It's very similar to MGS V where they present one thing but it doesn't hold up at all and ends up feeling super unsatisfying.
