So I run a small mom-and-pop bar and grill. The owner likes to have a server expedite the food out of the kitchen on busy days like Friday and Saturday.
However, in Ohio the minimum wage is $8.15. For a tipped employee they receive $4.25. An expeditor does receive some money from the other servers for getting the food correctly and getting it out of the kitchen. But this guy is still paying the expediter for 15. Even though that server is not interfacing in any way with customers. But normally the server would interface with customers. They're only expeditor one day a week and all their other shifts are server shifts. I don't want to pay the money to speak to a labor attorney but I don't want to be cheating our staff either. --- I know, indeed, the evil of that I purpose; but my inclination gets the better of my judgment. - Euripides ...
