I am going to be significantly less interested in the next Australian Survivor if Russell is on it. One thing they have done quite well (at least compared to the US version) these last few seasons is share the screen time between everyone. I do like Russell to some extent, but he gets way too much focus.

...I will still watch it though, unless it really drops off in quality.

what about Odette? Biggest dud of last year's, but it's forgivable since we had 10 All-Stars (all but one of which made the merge; that exception was royally swapfucked. AK is guaranteed a second go though.)

That entire list? In alphabetical order: AK, Anneliese, Henry, Jarrad, Jericho, Locky, King Luke, Michelle, Sarah, Tessa. I could see any of them returning for the inevitable "AU Stars" season.

STRATEGY IS FUCKING DULL IF WE'RE NOT GIVEN A REASON TO GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE PLAYERS! And pushing more and more twists just makes the show focus more on the twists than on the players. FFS, the finale is gonna be six players and at least one of those is one of Angela/Sebastian/Chelsea, who have gotten no personalization to describe why they eventually get booted.

I'm a big fan of Donothan and Laurel and I love what we have seen from Angela. And I have liked a lot of the players that have gone home already. Maybe not Andy levels but I have.

to be fair, Kellyn, Laurel and Donathan have gotten a good amount of screen-time, they just aren't likeable (though i enjoy watching Kellyn anyway).

Laurel and Donathan have only really gotten screentime due to their connection with Domenick/Wendell. I was actually thinking about this earlier today. How those two are completely cardboard characters, and the only reason they've gotten an uptick in visibility is because they're important to the games of people who are more relevant to the season.

Now, I WISH Dom/Wendell would lose, honestly. It'd make the season more interesting. But the editors haven't given strong edits to 9/12 people in the final 12. Either in terms of being completely underedited (Libby, Des, Jenna, Chelsea, Angela, Sebastian), and having an edit boiled down to a single character trait (Laurel aligned with Dom/Wendell, Donathan aligned with Laurel and thus Dom/Wendell, and Kellyn Naviti strong.) It's not fun to watch.

"Ohhhh, listen to the bombs I'm droppin' at tribal council y'all" does not a good character make. I'm sorry, but after a season of shitty editing, watching Donathan and Laurel play up their role as swing votes between an alliance of the two obvious winners and an alliance of nobodies did not excite or intrigue me because we all fucking knew Chelsea was going home. Again, strategy and blindsides mean nothing when you have this "massive blindside" or Chelsea, who has been ignored all season, giving me no reason to care whether she stays or goes. The same will go with Sebastian and Angela.

This is what happens when you base an entire show around strategy. Unless you have a cast that just does stupid shit non-stop, it's fucking boring. Because the ideal strategy in Survivor is to make an alliance and stick with that alliance, only flipping when you absolutely HAVE to. And that ideal strategy is BORING. But at least you can make an interesting television show by highlighting the personalities involved in the Pagonging so we care about the people getting voted out. But nope, gotta make every episode 80% strategy, even when it's a formulaic Pagonging. Which ruins actual interesting rounds. I mean, this round would still be super-annoying because they picked Chelsea over Wendell, but at least if the editors hadn't force-fed us the "Dom/Wendell/Don/Laurel" alliance since episode four, there might've been some suspense.

Surely SOMEONE other than those four have been bonding as human beings. Hell, I said this about Desiree: where the hell did this shocking blindside plan come from for Kellyn? Why the fuck should we care about Desiree, a character we don't know, turning against Kellyn, an alliance we didn't really know existed.

Show us Sebastian and Jenna showmancing and Sebastian turning against her.

Show us SOMETHING to humanize these fucking people. They did it last season! Why the fuck can't they do it this time?!

This too. Like, for all we know Chelsea was genuinely a bigger threat than Wendell. But we never saw that. We've been shown Wendell and Domenick as massive threats running the show, and yeah, they are. But if you want to make Chelsea a reasonable boot target tonight, do more than just show her winning two immunities (that you kinda HAD to show her winning.) Show some social game for fuck's sake. Otherwise is looks like Donathan is just talking a big game and doing jack shit to benefit himself.
