What's imbalanced about it?

It basically makes any Pokemon with a x4 weakness to Rock all but useless as soon as they're sent out, since they automatically lose 50% of their HP.

The fact that you use it once and it permanently does damage to every pokemon upon entry forever unless you piss away a turn using a weak ass rapid spin. And that it reduces pokemon to 50% health if they happen to be double weak to rock (ie: Charizard, Articuno), meaning there is no incentive to put them on a team since a huge chunk of teams run stealth rock.

I wish I could go back in time and slap the shit out of whoever thought of stealth rock in Diamond/Pearl >_>

imo, it should be a 1 time entry hazard and once the next pokemon takes the damage, it's gone unless you set it up again. I think that would be a great way to nerf it >_>

Use Rapid Spin or Defog if it's that big a deal to you. There are ways to remove the rocks.

Yeah, but now I gotta piss away a turn with a weak rapid spin to deal with it, on top of having a pokemon on my team that can learn it and hope he has a decent defensive match up so he can survive a turn. It's barely worth it >_>

One of the Pokmon that just so happens to have a 4x Rock weakness.

Which actually just goes to show how good Talonflame was despite Stealth Rock.

I mean, Stealth Rocks have been good since they've been added to the game. It does limit what you can use but can be worked around.

When crap like Ultra Sun and Moon exist and sell despite being 90 percent identical to Sun and Moon, I think it's more than just a feeling.

To be fair, adding the Fairy-type in gen 6 was basically a giant balance patch disguised as a new type. Dragons were getting far too powerful, and Fighting and Dark types didn't have enough weaknesses, so they're now weak to Fairy. Poison and Steel were the worst offensive types in the game, so they're now strong against Fairy. The new resistance to Fairy makes Steel too good defensively, so they lose resistances to Ghost and Dark to compensate. Fire was a really bad defensive typing, so they now resist Fairy attacks. Plus, most of the older Pokemon that gained a secondary Fairy typing were bad/mediocre before, so they all got a buff from it.

The reason it worked is because you sent out talonflame first and then talonflame solos the whole team.

Honestly, I feel the same way. They've gotten too complacent, and the closest thing they've had to competition in recent years, Youkai Watch, seems to have waned in popularity.

It's one reason why I'm a bit worried about the Switch game.

This >_> You just send Talonflame with Brave Bird or Acrobatics and watch him dominate a team until he died

To be fair, SR did get hit with a nerf due to Defog now removing entry hazards and defog is by far a better remover of entry hazards than Rapid Spin.

Plus 4x weakness doesn't kill you either. Volcarona and Charizard(due to Mega) are still OU and Talonflame was OU in gen 6 because of gale wings.

Though they could use a nerf to how much damage to do similiar to how burn got nerfed to in tick damage due to it's halving attack being strong enough.

Stick a Choice Band on it, and beyond certain Pokemon, everything got hit like a truck by a CB BB that is guaranteed to go first. This gen fixed that but still...

Gale Wings gave all flying moves +1 priority. Go Adamant max attack and you could put a dent into anything that didn't flat out resist you.

Plus most Talonflame sets ended up running Flying Stab, Roost, WoW, and either SD or Bulk Up. As you could ignore speed to invest into hp making it able to take some hits.

Basically you needed a Pokemon with extreme speed and there aren't many. Most popular one is Rayquaza.

Rapid Spin main problem is just the users. Very few competitively viable people learn it. Although it was decent in gen 2/gen 3 when entry hazards weren't that common and pokemon like fortress and starmie were good. Then gen 6 hit and you could get defog users like Latios/Latias, Mew, and Skarmory and it wasn't blocked by ghost types. Though beware of defiant users.

Dragonite could learn it and it was pretty common on it's DD set. Zygarde is another OU pokemon that could learn, but I don't believe it was really ran that much.

Honestly the gale wing nerf was unnessecary hard. All they needed to do was make it not work on status moves. Now it's just pointless to run.

GF hasn't cared about singles in a long while. All balancing they do is centered around doubles. Nobody uses SR in doubles because switching isn't as prominent.
