but polls show that these libertarians always vote conservative, 80% of the time over the liberal candidate anyway... Libertarians tend to value limited government intervention above their social and economic views.

most Libertarians are just Conservatives who don't want to admit they're conservatives or group themselves with conservatives. I'm not saying that in a bad way, its just funny to me when you see people side with every republican politician, constantly vote republican, have the most conservative ideals, then say "umm, excuse me....i'm not a conservative im a LIBERTARIAN"....Yea ok guy..."Libertarian" is just the trendy thing for people on the right to be.

Libertarians are basically young conservatives. Ones the old, social conservatives die out, libertarians will be the new conservatives.

Libertarians are not "middle of the ground." They're hard right on economic, freedom and security issues and have some more liberal social views.

The GOP's social policy views are a thing of the past, and few people under 50 agree with them. Libertarians are basically taking conservatism and adapting it to the present day.

The fact that both parties are so bad on foreign policy makes it easier to vote against Democrats. If somebody like Glenn Greenwald was running against Mitt Romney, I would vote for Glenn if I knew he would completely slam on the breaks on the military industrial complex.
Another major problem I have with the left is their desire to import voters from the 3rd world because they will rely on government assistance. We aren't going to end up with a free society like that. I used to be an open borders libertarian, but now I would only take that position if we were talking about a country with zero welfare. Immigration has turned into a government program that leaves no opening for politically possible libertarian answers. Sadly, the Libertarian Party today is not worth a protest vote IMO. I say this as somebody who donated to the LP in 2012. I get that they want enough votes to get on the debate stage, but that's fruitless if their candidate isn't an effective spokesperson. They should have gone with Austin Petersen. --- "Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it." -Thomas Sowell ... Copied to Clipboard!
