The amount of corporate welfare that happens is ridiculous. Our acquisition management department must purchase at least 80% of things from companies that are owned by minorities or companies that hire a minority majority, even if their prices are high.
A conference room had a projector that broke, and I took the initiative to try to replace it. I put in a requisition to order it off of CDW, because they had the best pricing with the fastest shipping options; but acquisition management gave it to a minority company, who charged beyond MSRP, and it literally took over a month to get the fucker delivered. /endrant ... That's fucking ridiculous. What state are you in? PA. If I recall correctly, these mandates, as well as the requirement that we must buy refurbished condition items for some items (even if its more expensive than new items!), come from the federal government. ... Copied to Clipboard!
