I liked the original, loved Disgaea 2 especially Portable, didn't like many of the mechanic changes in Disgaea 3, couldn't force myself to finish the main story in Disgaea 4, never picked up Disgaea D2

really the main reason I got it was because I played the demo and it supported playing the game in handheld mode with one Joy-Con attached and one detached which nothing else I've played on the Switch does but the home menu

Save often. The game can crash and I lost a lot of progress.

Disgaea 2 crashed a lot on PSP for me so I'm not ununfamiliar with NIS games crashing, I'll be sure to keep lots of saves

I have never had an NIS game crash on me. Weird. I've been thinking about picking this game up, but I kind of want it on Steam since I have Steam Points right now that I want to spend, lol

Didn't the Witch and the Hundred Knight localization add an entirely new type of crash that would boot you back to the XMB for no reason? I think I remember hear D2 had some pretty bad crashes but thats the only Disgaea I haven't played so I don't really know.

Amazing game, loved playing it handheld on the switch. Never had Disgaea 5 Complete crash on me once, after putting around 90 hours into it.

I'm curious why that's a plus for you, is one of your hands injured or something along those lines?

I doubt it. Outside of cameos and stuff, there isn't really anything you need to know from game to game. Think of them like Pokemon games, I guess.

I've really liked the whole "seperated grip" thing ever since I first used the Wiimote+Nunchuck, so I just think it's really cool that I can do it even in portable mode with this game.

As for NIS games and crashes, a lot of NISA's catalog over the years have had some pretty notable bugs introduced in the localization process. I hear the English version of Disgaea D2 in particular had a disastrous issue with the damage calculations on, ironically, one of the Fire spells, and it could actually fry your PS3 if the right numbers got plugged into it. But I hear NISA's gotten their shit together more in the last few years, possibly because people really got on their case about their past fuckups a couple years back.

This is a great game indeed. I just haven't played much on Switch since I already beat it on PS4 (I even paid extra to import the Japanese Switch version lol)

yeah I'm like ten hours in now and liking this way more than I did 3 or 4, going back to the Geo Symbols from the first two sealed the deal

only problems I have are custom colors not reflecting in portraits and some of the English voices for generics are so bad

The Rhapsody DS debacle ended up being the turning point.

I don't think my D5 ever crashed but it would suck a lot if it did. Personally tho I found the Geo stuff kinda annoying lul

I want to play more than I have been but I keep having to put the Switch in the dock to let it charge and the TV I currently have set up makes everything look like shit so I've been adverse to playing on the TV

system should've come with two AC adapters
