And recently I keep seeing videos about gamestops imminent demise so I'm worried about points.

I don't think it is a "any minute GameStop will be closing their doors" thing, but they are in decline. People are moving more and more to digital, and the ones who aren't realize there are better stores for getting/selling used games. Even if you don't like shopping at a mom-n-pop game store you probably wouldn't mind selling to them since they pay more for used games.

Yeah, a couple years ago they changed it so a gift certificate would automatically be issued once you got enough points and you had to turn the setting off on your account.
