Striking the Octopus is good. Activation's fine, though I feel like I hear similar stuff all the time in certain video game levels. The second match is pretty tough for me, and I like (and supported?) both of these. Slightly more in the mood for Giselle right now. Side bracket is really no contest, I don't care about Space Jam remixes.

Striking the Octopus - Yuno songs in the contest. So weird. Striking the Octopus is great at least.

Bodhisattva Kill - Giselle is pretty bad. Not sure if as bad as Cicio? BK's pretty good at least.

Messenger - Messenger is a weird pick and isn't that great. Not really up against much of an opponent though.

There are Yuno songs I've seen in other VGM contests that I would absolutely pick over Striking the Octopus here (like Different World for example). Activation is not like them, sadly..

Giselle is much better than Cicio, but definitely not good enough to get my vote here. Why did these Fata Morgana songs get in in the first place?

-Activation is rad and fun and the oscilloscope view in the video is totally hypnotizing
-listening to Striking the Octopus is definitely more enjoyable than striking an octopus-- instrumentation is cool and the bass is cool and I like the opening but find the guitar tiresome like it's a deviljho come to storm what had been a perfectly fine hunt without it
-I think Giselle shares a number of the same objections I have with Cicio but for what it's worth I like it more than Cicio and would probably find this pretty pleasant about half the time
-Bodhisattva Kill is INTENSE multi-phase boss battle theme action but I think it wears out its welcome by the third part
-Messenger has some cool things going on at the beginning and I like the mood it sets and it does some cool things with time signature but the melody it goes for feels really plodding
-oh I get it they took a pretty catchy chiptune track and overlaid it with the Space Jam theme because Barkley Shut Up and Jam Gaiden is an irreverent self-aware basketball-themed game LOL
