Pretty interesting read, I know this has been passed around but I wanted to talk about this specific quote.

"I havent really thought about [Episode IX] because theres such a sense of closure, Lukes story is told. What more can I do?" Hamill said. "And you know, you have to start disconnecting from it emotionally. The main thing [that shocked me in The Force Awakens] was Han Solo is killed! Ill never get to work with Harrison again. Luke will never see Han again. Thats what struck me, that was the first break, we lost a member of the band."

But the following events compounded the issue, both in the story and in real life.

"And then what happened with Luke [in The Last Jedi], I said Okay, thats the next link when I was still thinking Ill come back as a Force ghost," Hamill added. "And then to lose Carrie in real life, I said Thats it. They say you can never go home again, and that for me was the real indication that its time to move on."

Damn. When he puts it like that it really hit home. You feel Mark's pain reading that. Something weirdly tragic there, about an actor who was actually in the position to recapture his glory days but every step of the way it just somehow slips away from him. It's like he's saying that with the ST it was a dream that should have never come true. Heartbreaking

I love Mark but maybe he should take the theme of TLJ to heart. The past has to die at some point.

Everyone and their grandma knew Harrison has wanted out of Han Solo since Empire. No way he came back for TFA without a promise that he was getting killed.

Carrie passing was rough but that's life. Big three OT actors aren't kids anymore and dying is part of life. Not much you can do about that.

Mark is well and healthy. If he wants to come back, no one is going to stop him. But the thought that the gang was going to get back together with the ST was never really going to happen.

As far back as TFA Mark Hamill didn't want to do it unless they got the old guard back together.

Well it turns out they did and then one died in movie and the other died in real life.

He's got no reason to go back.
